The dark web by itself is not a big deal; if you choose go to its depths you will see some sketchy shit

You can do that with regular google searching too tho

Tor is a good way to start

I was bored by the dark web, it's fun a a wee bit looking at sites that sell drugs etc but once the novelty factor is gone, it's boring. You can but non-illegal stuff too, like books, but you need Bitcoin and that's so expensive and complicated to buy ( from my PoV anyway )

Pretty much this

Honestly from what I understand, a lot of the deep web isn't that stuff. Sure it's there, but not in the abundance that you seem to make out. Funnily enough there's fucked up things on the surface web too.

I've tried to avoid looking at anything on the deep web, but I do know what's on there. I don't find myself ever needing to use the deep web for an actual reason, and I sure hope I don't.

I've heard on reddit though, that kind of disturbing stuff you find is actually very difficult to find. But iunno

I wandered around in the dark web once or twice. Tried out Tor and I2P via a Tails distro to see what all the fuss was about. Really, it just seemed boring, run down and broken. But perhaps I didn't look hard enough.

All I found was a bunch of broken links, a few wikis with directories of mostly broken links, and a few paranoid blogs.

Also, not completely on topic, but I don't like the graphic in the OP, because it equates the deep web with the dark web when they are different things. The deep web is just the part of the internet that cant be indexed by a search engine (like anything that can only be access by searching for it, or anything behind a paywall or account access). The dark web is a subset of the deep web that is generally hidden from indexing, and possibly only accessible through a special program. But the dark web isn't the entire deep web or even a large part of it; it's more a small dark corner of the internet. So the image just annoys me where it implies that 96% of the internet is the dark web - which is ridiculous when you really consider it).
