CIV is the reboot of I, so I assume they wanted to start earlier and incl Grant, Syfa, and Alucard. :)

I would have loved them to start with Simon and I point to CIV since it just expanded more on everything from the first game in every way.

But CIII makes sense to start with too because it's a prequel, so that can be a good start as well.

Oh god, Trevor Belmot's adventures?

On the upside we get Alucard. On the downside we get young Trevor instead of badass one eye Trevor.

Curious why they chose III over SotN.

This is guessing based off the interview, but it sounds like it's the one they have the rights for.

Question: How did the project come about?

Adi Shankar: In a meeting with Kevin Kolde … he’s a really awesome
dude. Frederator and Kevin acquired the rights a few years ago.

Not sure though, just potentially implied. Not sure what all they do and don't have rights to.

First Lords of Shadow was decent, but just know those aren't "true" Castlevania games. They're reboots and pretty much bastardized God of War clones. Series is so much better in 2D. Dunno if Konami will make any new ones cuz they've been jerks lately, but the last good one was:

Luckily one of the main creators of the series is making a spiritual successor so I'm hyped for that.

Also music for 2D ones is god tier. Check out some of the OSTs.

Yeah, I love Castlevania a lot

Hmm...I figured rights would be to "Castlevania" as a whole.

Then again I have no idea how these things work.

*chuckles*

If this happens, I am going to party like it's 1991. Love the series, but that game, in particular, is one of the best. (I still have it in the box! ... Yes, I'm a dork, I know, but I made a point of taking extra-good care of that one as a kid.)

And I'm not too worried about which version of Trevor we get, since we're getting Best ... *cough* Wizard, Sypha. (Is it still a spoiler after a quarter of a century?)

Don't forget the Mighty No. 9 one!

'Cuz I'm pretty sure Inafune already did.

Oooooh burn! Also it's suppose to come out Q2 next year

PS: I still bitter about him making No. 9 3D, compared to the awesome 2D hand drawn graphics that it was originally announced to be.

Seriously. And its not like they couldn't do 2D in Unity, Guilty Gear did. And they raised about 4x what they asked for, so not a matter of budget.

Worst thing was the voters didn't choose loli Call.

One of the backer rewards was to choose her design, but Inafune already chose it before the vote.

Definitely 2D is better, but I thought Lords of Shadow did a good job with the world (like, the actual look of the world), character designs, and tone, but definitely the gameplay is your average hack and slash game.

And thank you for reminding me about Order of Ecclesia! That was an awesome game, still, Castlevania IV and Symphony of the Night are my personal favs.

And of course, Bloodstain looks awesome. Konami will probably never make another "true" game since they're really focusing on mobile now But if the anime proves to be great and if Bloodstain turns out good, then I won't be too worried.

Yeah I had my fun with it and it was definitely a cool looking game with interesting levels. I actually sorta like how they combined GoW, Shadow of The Collosus and Ikaruga(lol that last boss) even if it didn't work out flawlessly. Mirror of Fate is really what soured me because they attempted a 2D in that style and I hated it from the demo...same for LoS2.
