Who needs world peace. Let's just have everyone try to kill one another with weapons that cannot kill other people. Eventually everyone will get tired of trying to kill one another and get along with everyone else to some degree.

I'm a cynic who thinks humanity is brutish and kind of evil, so I don't think realistically we'd be able to achieve world peace. While there are plenty of good people in the world there are always going to be those who hunger for power and are willing to start wars and disputes to obtain it.

As long as there is evil, we'll never be at peace.

Well first you have to define peace. Would you consider peace simply the absence of violence or conflict or something more deeply ingrained into society. If its the absence of violence, the world is relatively good and still improving despite all the bad news. The number of conflicts and casualties have declined since World War II.

There will always be conflict on some level, whether its with you or your neighbor or interstate war and you can't avoid it. What you can do is study potential triggers and patterns that lead to aggregate conflict and try to address those triggers. This isn't sufficient, but by applying those studies from a position of influence, one can mitigate the worst of conflict.

So while there are and always will be horrible and good people, the societal systems change and this impacts our behavior. Institutions can redirect what would otherwise be negative behavior into a social good.

No. There is no such thing as peace and there never will be. Everybody will just kill each other off and that will be that. Frankly, with the way the world is, that day cannot come soon enough.

I think it's possible, but unlikely to happen soon. I am hopeful that we are done with major wars between super powers, but that can change quickly.

I think the key to peace is interdependence. That is what keeps the richest and most powerful nations from direct confrontation. All of the worst modern conflicts take place between the poor and disenfranchised. For there to be absolute peace everyone needs to prosper and be accepted into global society. I'm not sure that's realistic but it's something to hope for.

We can have a peace if you want but not "complete" peace and if it was complete it mostly would be a bad end to it.

So long you wish for peace you can have it but don't ignore the evil actions as well or it maybe you who becomes the demon.

Not until the Prince of peace makes the world anew and death is swallowed up in victory.

There may someday be World Peace, for a minute or two, before our leaders find something new to disagree on.

Simple question:
Do you think humanity will ever find peace or are we destined to forever hate and be angry?

If you mean complete peace, as in there is never any human conflict, I don't think it will ever come, especially if we value democracy and human discourse. In fact, complete peace would go against our very biology, for as a species constantly changing and adapting, if conflict were to end forever, we'd never grow or evolve as individuals, much less a species.

I believe things in the future will be handles more civilly, if that's what you mean, and war might becomes more scarce, but it's still human nature to fear what we don't understand and to react violently.

I don't mean to be the cynic, but I wanted to offer another point of view.

If all humans on the planet were guaranteed access to basic needs (drinkable water, food, shelter, etc) and nations didn't need to compete for basic needs and energy resources, that would be a start.
