No training.

Just go watch some gun fail videos on YouTube
They deserve it. I've seen people put there thumb behind the slide and nearly get there thumb ripped off
Had a friend shoot a hole in his foot because he rested his gun barrel on his boot
If you don't know how to handle a gun, then you probably shouldn't own a gun

Well your not wrong and I wish I could get both sides sadly I can't though but in the end I think shooting is a rash decision unless your life is in danger and many people let fear get to them and cloud there judgment and shoot. I can understand why he would do it also he was probably one if those guys who always has a handgun on them.

I think shooting to injure a dog can and is justified in certain situations.

Might be one of those guys, but not might be. If he was just a guy with a gun always in his pocket and wields it with little regard, of course there's a lot wrong with it. It's just not something so easily assumed. I love dogs now and I'm so getting one of my own when I get older. It's just one of those situations that's hard to tell with only one side of it.

Guns are tools for killing, that's all. It's not that the gun is being misused, it is that the person using it is not good at determining when the shooting is justifiable and what the proper target is.

Anyone think of using a can of bear spray instead. most guns and ammo articles are about having less than lethal responses and only escalating along with the threat.

Power to end life, to feel like God. Its a macho thing, and it also empowers the user and just being around them is tempting. Hunting, whether for food or for sport is catharsis, it channels these urges, while at the same time awards food and a sense of accomplishment. I forget, but there was a study that being around guns can raise testosterone levels .

That said, a gun might one day save your life . Guns are like arms (no pun intended!), the intent to commit wrongdoing originates in the brain. But its a great responsibility! To have a gun in the home.

Don't really want to get into the conversation, but I found it somewhat amusing.

If you think about it, guns are tools designed only to cause injury and death. They're weapons..When they kill, they're not so much being "misused" as much as they're fulfilling their purpose.

(In case you can't tell - I'm not too fond of guns).

That being said, as for why people use them irresponsibly, i'd say it's because there will always be people who will use anything irresponsibly. With guns it's just more evident 'cause, ya know, they're designed to kill things.

But that's just my take on it for what it's worth (which is very little). You could consider me a naive and idealistic extremist when it comes to my views on firearms, so i'm probably not the best person to take seriously on the issue.

People have their own reasons for different things. I dont know myself but all we can do is avoid guns as much as possible, that way the misusage of guns will decrease.

Because people are fucking retarded. Why is the IRS hated? Because they abuse the idiocy of humanity. Humans are stupid people who do stupid things. I now see who the real bad guy is when it comes to Saints Row 4. Poor Zinyak.

Least I, and some others, can be happy we're not as stupid as some others.

We started with trading goods back in BC before AD. Then some ingenious bastard came along, made us switch to gold to pay for everything, and for a time, business was easier. Then came the first bank, and the first paper form of money. Which was basically an IOU. The banks also came with a fee. And the IOU's became worthless because the banks were deliberately charging fee's that you couldn't afford to keep up with and still have more gold. You were working harder for less and less. And eventually, the bank spent all of YOUR money.

Today, is no different. The banks make their money on loans. The FEDS make theirs on the banks loans. The mint prints the money. And in a way, you're supposed to have access to actual gold for your dollar. But you don't. Because they're printing dollars for money they don't have. That's why the dollar is worthless. Because whoever takes it, and pays taxes with it, can't expect much to come their way.

See? We're stupid.

The entire point of a gun is to kill, why people keep trying to justify owning one is another question.

Truthfully there is no misuse of it, they exist to do one thing and nothing more. Even if guns were outlawed nothing would change. People would still get their hands on them regardless.

Maybe they do and maybe they don't, it depends on the person. It takes a degree of maturity, moral responsibility and care to lawfully use these weapons. Sadly nobody has it anymore...

"Misuse" is incorrect in this case since that would imply that they are not using the gun for the purpose it was created for. Guns were created to kill so using them to kill is not a misuse.

A better question would be why are people so quick to resort to violence?
