Post Reply Do you believe happiness is a choice?

Yes, no and Maybe. Overall it just depends. You can very well choose happiness, but sometimes it just occurs in of itself. Sometimes you can but just because you do doesn't mean it genuine happiness or that it'll even happen. I think it very important that you recognize when emotions can be a form of escapism and happiness very well can be a route to that. I also think that happiness is put on a pedestal and looked at like some pinnacle place to be while other emotions are seen as bad and useless, which is not the case, this can very well lead to us lying to ourselves about our emotions only creating further confusion and internal conflict.

Yes, happiness can be a choice.

It depends on how you look at your situation.

No. Emotions cannot simply be turned on and off on a dime; however, happiness can be deliberately encouraged.

Yes. People who say it's not are afraid to take responsibility for their own happiness. Even if you go through a dark period or a traumatic experience, it's up to you to make it better somehow.

I think its most definitely a choice. For some people its a easier choice to make there is no question about that, but everyone has the ability to be happy. It all depends on your defention of happiness and what makes you happy.

I don't know, it should be natural. Not forced.

Yes, because even the people who aren't anything in this world and have nothing, tend to be the happiest. You decide what you want in life.

yes, for me it's a choice because it's my outlook of life that determines how i feel. i feel like you become more in control of what happiness is the more experience you go through because you become more resilient and accustomed to your limits.

there are a lot of people who take it for granted and seems as though they deliberately choose to not to and make themselves feel like a victim, which i think is actually quite pathetic of them. there are unique cases where it is out of their control like chemical imbalances to post traumatic stress which are genuine reasons.

It is definitely a choice. Sometimes it may just come naturally but you can't just go looking for happiness, that'll only become temporary.
If you truly want to be happy then you must decide to be happy and then you become happy that way for a long time.
