I never said anything about a discount.

I just mean that it's not fair because of my location, that I'm not allowed to view certain anime.

Don't get me wrong I love this site and I love the service, but I guess I will just have to watch To Love Ru elsewhere.

That not mine current location. I am in Puerto Rico right now and is US territory too. I don't think my location is the problem here. I can see every series just fine except season 2 of To Love Ru Darkness.

See ? Is season 2 of To Love Ru Darkness that I can't see.

That is exactly what I was referring to in my previous message. Darkness 2's license probably doesn't include the territories. Keep in mind it is licensed directly from TBS, whereas the other 3 are sub-licensed via Sentai.

The question about TLR is though... censored or uncensored.

Just wondering if Crunchyroll ever add catalogue titles that aren't US and Canada only?

Now if only CR could acquire the rights to stream the second Cardcaptor movie, my life would be complete.

So I have to wait until Sentai decides to license the new season ? Any chance CR will add the territories later on before or after the license ?

"All 3 series will be available for members in the US and Canada."

What a big surprise.

They have (there are even some catalog titles that aren't available in the US, but those don't seem to get announced in the Site News topic). The majority are from US home video distributors, however, so those can be expected to normally be US and Canada only. In most cases, those same titles are already available on Hulu and/or elsewhere, so CR is just another method of distribution for those companies.

Sentai itself already licensed the series (including for home video):

It would be worth using the Contact Us form to ask CR customer service directly to confirm if Darkness 2 is supposed to exclude US territories.

I'm curious if you can view Darkness 2 at TAN:

Yes but only 4 episodes thou. Support is a no go. I ask them to fix one the manga page count and I yet to see a fix. I send them a message and even use a link a mod gave me. And yet it remain unresolved.

Exactly.

The reality is that we still get the same quality and functionality of service for around the same price.

The problem is that the biggest perception is the difference in catalogue. Especially because of all the announcements that end up "US and Canada Only".

And, in some ways, it's worse for us (and other natively English-speaking countries) than it is for people elsewhere.
Other regions have the added overheads of generating or integrating additional languages for subtitles and, for device apps, the additional hardsubbed ncodes that requires. The UK doesn't require any extra workload to cater, outside of the licensing. So it's basically a bit of paper and a flag in a database that decides what we can watch.

It just makes it seem worse. Especially when the excluded titles are ones you have interest in and a lot of the available ones aren't.

I don't think it's the perception that they have a smaller catalogue outside the US, I'm fairly confident they do have a smaller catalogue outside the US. It's the fact they make NA-only announcement after NA-only announcement, and then you get a raft of international acquisitions at the beginning of every season. If they were timed more evenly, I think people would be less annoyed.

That said, their treatment of One Piece degraded a lot of goodwill I had for Crunchyroll. It doesn't really bother me that they don't have it for the UK, what bothers me was that they insist on regularly emailing us about it, even though it isn't available here. I would have been fine with newsletters about multiple titles that mentioned it, but they also sent us emails that just mentioned One Piece and One Piece alone, it shouldn't have been too hard to exclude all of Europe from those...

The TAN delaycast stream is behind the CR stream, because the CR stream has a 31 day exclusivity contract.
So new episodes go up about 4 weeks later, one each week until it's complete.

4 episodes is all TAN has at present. They are "same season streaming" rather than simulcasting, and often are a month behind on the shows they share with CR.
