Actually, it really just means no flash photography while you kill a messenger.

If you raise a glass to give a toast, and you make toast by putting bread in a toaster, does that mean toasters turn bread into glass?

Because it is a fool's prerogative to utter truths that no one else will speak. Unfortunately, they (being fools) tend to wrap these truths in about fifty kilos of bullshit.
