Weight is a very subjective thing, but when it comes to extremes in weight, one way or the other, what do you think is the "worst" kind of unhealthy to be? Both being extremely thin (not naturally), and being obese (also not naturally), have negative side effects, but which do you think in the long run is the worst kind of "Unhealthy" to be?

This is an opinion thread, by the way, keep it tame, or rather, keep it civil.

Both. :/

If you're extremely obese or extremely underweight your gonna die either way if you don't do anything about it.

Being extremely underweight is far worse. Once a person loses enough fat (especially due to not eating) the body starts to break down muscle tissue and eventually organs to gain the fuel it needs. A person would die much quicker from being severally underweight, usually within a year or two, while an obese person could realistically live for decades.

I think skeletal thinness may be more unhealthy. Deficiency in calories and nutrients seems to kill you faster than excess. Becoming morbidly obese takes longer than turning into a skeleton if you start from normal weight.

Too thin and your body starts to eat its own organs for fuel. Too fat, and your body crushes its own organs under fat.

So I'd be more worried about too thin to a point.

Fun Fact* from what I've read before skinny people actually have a higher chance of dying from a heart attack than obese people do. As for Unhealthy I'll take it as who will have the longer life span. I would say being underweight for the most part would lead to death faster than being obese. If your extremely underweight your either not eating or not assimilating nutrients so that's to say your lack the building block to build and repair cells and hindering your resources to create ATP your just breaking down the little bit of fat and protein and sugars in your body till eventually you cant even do that.

*Don't take my word for it. Also I'm to lazy to check if it's actually true so yea...

Considering the weight that's considered healthy by most, a person definitely has a lot more leeway into gaining weight than losing it before it becomes dangerous. So numerically speaking, being underweight is more unhealthy.

But neither is good. They're both unhealthy, and it's not like people choose between one or the other. Whichever extreme you're on, a healthy weight is far more attainable than see-sawing over to the other side.

Well, you'll die no matter what weight you maintain. But, as far as what will give you the most fulfilling life, then each seems just as bad as the other. If you ask most starving people, they'd say they'd rather be obese.

Unhealthy is unhealthy. It's like choosing between a broken toe and a broken thumb

^This. Also the people that have this always look like they're suffering way more than most people with obesity problems.
