I created this forum in order to in order to see what fellow CR users have done to get their significant other to watch anime and actually be into it. Ive been dating a girl for almost four years now and shes just now starting to watch anime and actually like it on her own. What are some creative ways to get the other involved??

Say you're withholding the D from her until she gives it a try.

Meh, I love my girlfriend but she's stubborn. Doesn't want to see things my way. (*controlling intensifies*) But in all seriousness I think it's more the matter of finding the perfect theme I studied what she watched and found something to her liking now she's gradually watching them with me.

As a girlfriend trying to get her boyfriend into anime more, I would suggest that you watch a genre that she enjoys with her. For example, If she digs romance, Show her something like Clannad. If she is more into action, Try Soul Eater or DBZ. Try not to show her anything with too many complicated tropes or community in-jokes like Lucky Star until she gets more involved in the fandom.

This. It's kind of selfish to demand that your significant other share your interests. It doesn't mean anything if they don't actually want to do it, so it's both more effective and more ethical to find some common ground between what you enjoy and what he/she does. They should be watching it because they like it, not just because you want them to.

I managed to get my sister into death note. You just have to go, alright we're watching this. Be careful with your choice and appeal to what they like.

I actually made a trade . I promised to listen to 1 full week of country music CDs in exchange for 2 short anime series. I believe they were Maison Ikkoku season 1 and Ah My Goddess season 1. She ended up liking anime and I ended up liking country music, it was a win-win.

Show her a decent anime which is a genre or subject that she might find interesting. If she likes horror, romance, etc. then show her an anime based upon that genre. Get to know her Say, "Oh, you might like this show because of (blank) reasons." First anime that got me into anime was Inuyasha, so you could try that.

Unfortunately, liking anime can give you sort of a bad rep depending on where you live, just as any nerdy hobby would. So I think a lot of people just wouldn't even want to attempt watching it based on negative opinions they've heard or stereotypes they've seen. Shame, really.
