Howdy,

So I'm slightly new to the whole anime thing and I'm kinda picky about it. I'm not a huge fan of the school genre (even though that seems to be a really popular thing ) I'm lookin for a anime that simply wont bore me to death. Something to watch while on break at work or at home if I have nothing to do.

Here is a list of the Anime that I've watched:

Sword art online (up to date)
Fairy tail (Just started on the tart arc)
Log Horizon (Completed)

Thanks

Well, it's kind of hard to make suggestions unless you give us more info. Do you like action, romcoms, romance or comedy by themselves, etc.? Anyway, I'll give it a shot.

DeathNote is a very popular series that is essentially a detective story told from the villain's side, and it has a supernatural twist in it. If you're into strategy/cat & mouse type plots, I recommend trying it.

Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet is set in a kind of post-apocalyptic world, but it's nothing like your run-of-the-mill show in the genre. Several hundred years after humans are forced to leave earth, one, a soldier, becomes separated from his unit only to arrive on earth and find out that there are still people here. I cannot tell you how much I love this show! Also, if you have Netflix, I highly recommend watching it in the English dub. It is extraordinarily good, and you don't have to worry about subtitles. Oh, and although I said it is set in a post-apocalyptic world, don't expect it to be dark- it's not. In fact, it is pretty light-hearted in tone, overall.

Yona of the Dawn is an adventure show. The protagonist is a spoiled princess who's father is killed in a coup, and she is forced to face reality and flee for her life.

The only other I would recommend off the top of my head is Baby Steps, but I don't think it's what you're looking for. It's a tennis anime, and is fairly slow-paced. However, if you're into sports anime at all (even if you don't like tennis), you might give it a try.

You are probably going to get locked. There is an official suggestions thread somewhere and most posts like this get sent there.

that said. Are you looking for stuff just on Crunchy or can you branch out to other sites?

You would probably like Overlord over on Funimation. It's got some similarities to Sword Arts and Log Horizon, in the whole "MMO becomes real" line of things. Main distinction though is what the Main character was playing in his MMO before it went real on him.

For here on Crunchy, maybe
Gate
Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon
Hunter x Hunter

or for fun you could hit the dice at the top of the page and go with whatever it gives you

Hmm. I'm afraid I'm too tired to think of any right now. You might try one of greylurker's suggestions, or like they said, hit the dice button at the top of the page. It takes you to a random series, and you can watch a few minutes, then decide whether you want to continue. I've found several anime that I would have passed over by doing that. You can't judge a book by its cover, as they say.

If you don't want to be bored watch Shinsekai Yori (From the New World). It'll startle you a bit. Fate Zero is also a pretty good one too. And both are from crunchyroll.

You seem to like a lot of shounen from what I could tell. Try Titles like Gurren Lagann, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Or Baccano if you are looking to escape the high school trope. I also saw That you watched anime with the whole Video Game theme in it. I would recommend Accel World and Tears to Tiara, which is actual based on a video game.

Here are a few other suggestions (although some very good shows have been mentioned so far). I've marked the ones that largely take place in a school setting. Many on are CR; the rest can be found on Hulu and/or Funimation.

Action w/ a bit of comedy:
----------------------------------
A Certain Magical Index
Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
The Familiar of Zero (School life)
High School DxD (school life; very ecchi)
Trinity Seven (school life; very ecchi)
Kaze no Stigma
Full Metal Panic (school life)
Dragonar Academy (school life)

Comedy w/ a bit of action:
------------------------------
The Devil is a Part-Timer
Ookami-San and Her Seven Companions (school-life)
Outbreak Company (some school life, later in the series)
When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace (school life)
Ben-To (school life)
Love, Chunibyo, & Other Delusions (school life; okay, very little action, but what is there is funny)
