title pretty much says it.

Not that I am looking for "adult" manga in an X-rated sense, but ones that might appeal to someone older such as myself.

I am eagerly awaiting GATE and the Plastic Memories spin-off manga to come out here in the States so something like that would be great.

Between my local Barnes and Noble and Books-A-Million there is a decent selection of Manga and Light Novels, but picking one out to start with isn't that easy for me.

I'm trying to shy away from the whole high school setting. Having teens and young adults is fine, just not in a school setting. I already watch plenty of anime with those forces at work.

Anyways, any suggestions or ideas will be greatly appreciated and if you maybe have ideas for other places to make manga purchases I am all ears. I know amazon of course, but elsewhere you might find with good manga deals?

I dont know much about Manga titles that aren't school based but I know i've seen some decent deals on craigslist for full on collections for manga. Not always the best selections but its worth a try.

Pluto

Read it. NOW

It's a retelling of the third story arc of Astro Boy. If you read the original, this enhances the story for you.

I really liked deadman wonderlands manga and anime. It's set in a really crazy prison type of place.

My favorites (that have been officially translated and fit your criteria). All four of these are much better manga than anime:

- Ah My Goddess (Romance, with a mix of comedy, drama, and action)
- Love Hina (Romantic Comedy; harem)
- Ai Yori Aoshi (Romance with some comedy and drama; harem); may be out of print
- Usagi Drop (slice of life; I'd recommend stopping after Vol 4)

If you are willing to read fan-translated manga, try:
- Train Man
- Aishita Doborou
- Bonnouji
- Toshiue no Hito (extremely ecchi)
- Orange Yane no Chiisana Ie
- IO
- Honeymoon Salad

So apparently the word that was suggested for me to use would be Seinen?

Thanks for suggestions so far.

Definitely gonna search for a few of them. I think Books=A-Million had Love Hina Omnibus editions. i remember the anime vaguely. I might check it out. Deadman Wonderland seems groovy too.

Actually what got me started with manga was hearing that anime that I followed had much more story in manga form beyond what I had seen. If there's an anime or two tta you really love you may actually want to try the manga of that first.

So nowhere here had Usagi drop. I will have to order it online.

I also really wanted to get Love Hina, but it was all sold out at BAM. I will probably order it online as well.

Ultimately I ended up picking up Oh My Goddess omnibus volume 1 (Ah My goddess)

It's not that I think he can't handle it; it just turns into a very different (and not as good) manga. The first four vols are an incredibly good slice of life about an unconventional family. The second half it becomes an average school age shoujo story with an odd ending. It's not awful; it's just that if you want shoujo romances with a high school heroine, there are others I would recommend first.

Finished Oh My Goddess Omnibus 1. I need to order 2 now. Still trying to track down Love Hina, and they didn't have Black Jack either, but i swung by BAM on my lunch break and snagged these to get me started:

Nice, great choice. Although I've heard from many people that the anime for Bunny Drop is much better than the manga.
