IDK which channels are getting terminated but I understand them terminating AMVs (mostly because of the audio which makes sense) and FULL episode reaction videos (those are dumb to watch anyways).

The only way you are legally protected, in the US at least, for using other people's work in your content is if it follows the "Fair Use" clause, meaning it is use for parody, criticism/review, education, and news reports. Reviewers and youtubers who report anime news really shouldn't have the copyright strike because it falls under that. Otherwise, yea that's on Google.

I personally have an anime youtube channel, but because I am partnered with Maker Studios, if YT were to copyright strike me, I can run it through them and they can give me legal help. Either way, I try to minimize that risk by creating a layout to put the anime clips in so it doesn't fill up the screen.

As for AMVs, I've had my old AMV channel from 2007 that had tons of views/subs terminated but I don't really care too much since it's understandable. Besides I upload all my amvs on AnimeMusicVideos . org anways. AMV is such a grey area though. You're using audio and visuals that you don't know and yet you're still altering the original sources. It's still on the fence. The org has gotten a cease and desist letters from artists to remove all videos that has their music and they have every right to do so.

Eh, It allows legitimate sites to prosper. Capitalism. If you don't like it, move to... like china or something.

Some of this well-known Anime YouTube channels, have been taken down due to live reactions. Most of this live reactions tend to show complete footage of whatever anime or episode they are live reacting.

I mean it's just copyright in general that bothers me. I understand we're using someone elses footage, but we're not making money off it. In fact we are critiques who either enhance or sell such content to a wide variety of audiences with our own style of choice in originality hence the anime community without being finely commended for it. It's free service people!

And the fact that major anime reviewers/reactors got hit so fast all in a few days time spand is very suspicious. It's just sad. If I had amazing content I wanted the world to see, I would make sure to spread it across all platforms and make sure people notice it whether online or in public because in the end that promising tactic could change lives in a best case scenario.

Just my opinion in short

I remember Sawyer7Mage and CodeProvider got their channels taken down even though they were just reviewers. They got them back thankfully, but yeah, Youtube's copyright system sucks

Youtube's copyright policy has gone bollocks over the last five years.
Read up on thier "content detection" system, can even block AMVs and shit too.
Ugh.

Well, I guess companies are just screwing themselves over. They need to realize that anime is not really big, and youtube is a good way for people to start getting into anime. I got into anime, because I saw an AMV of bleach.

I don't see the appeal of AMVs unless it's both a song and anime I like, which I have yet to see.
