Well a year ago a robber broke into my parents house at midnight whilst i was up gaming and stole a bag my brother just got for school (homework in it and everything mother had to write a note that his homework got stolen)

Anyhow i thought my mum was up to i just say into the darkness "Mum is that you?" got no reply and just went back to gaming in the morning i found out we were robbed and if not for me being up at midnight we would have lost more stuff (including my wallet which was in the same room easily visible)

Now if i am home alone i keep a long knife in the room with me to feel safe since i know robbers won't have a gun (Australia wooo but seriously the chances of them owning a gun is 1/10 at best)

If they rob me i will draw some blood as evidence for the police

They would get a face-full of .45ACP. I would probably then fall back asleep and forget it happened....

... My memory banks do not come online for a couple minutes after waking up. I have had conversations with people, fallen back asleep, and never known they took place when I wake up again (One such time I even scolded them for drawing on my face).

So yeah. I would have to figure out what the hell happened in the morning (*cough* afternoon). That would be a tricky one to explain to the police,

Shooting a robber who is not a threat or is not attacking you isn't even self defense at that point it's homicide as wrong as it is for them to be robbing your house it doesn't give you the right to kill them... then again maybe i just come from a country that is sane compared to yours.

I would, I wouldn't know they're unarmed and I wouldn't let them get close enough to find out.

It wasn't at night, but I did once have a guy break into my house when my brother and I where home alone.

I woke up my brother, took him with me to the back bathroom, locked it and called the police.
I had a slab of wood ready to deck the guy with if he tried to get in. (This was the day I discovered that I'm not a pacifist.)

The cops got there about 10 minutes later.
The intruder was already gone, unfortunately. Made off with my laptop.
Jokes on him. The case was cracked so bad that it split open when you
opened it. I had it held together with glue.

It was a very nerve racking experience.

While I do not own guns, my room is armed to the wall with swords (from wooden to sharpened steel), so whether it's a robber or the zombie apocalypse, they will regret setting foot into my house.

I also know enough kung fu to take them down weaponless, so the swords are more of a luxury item.

I'm not going to be any hero, though, unless I need to defend myself. I'd call the police if I could and fend them off as a last resort.

Hide for safety and then call the cops.
