I had heard people say mean things about homosexuals before but never like the person I met today. She told me that gays are so degenerate and evil that salvation is not availble to them. She said that a gay person is so engulfed in evil that he or she will never be forgiven by God. I told her that only God knows what's in our hearts but she insisted that gays are a lost cause. I was flabbergasted at how hateful and cruel she was.

So have you ever met a homophobe before? How did you react?

Pretty much everyone at my old church. They liked to act all holy and righteous while in church but they were different people outside. I was the same person whether I was in the building or out and they criticized me a lot even though I was there for nearly two decades, way longer than the vast majority of the members, and I've read the bible from cover to cover more times than I can remember. They were also very nosy.

I didn't really say anything to them since there's no way to convince them using worldly logic. They just go by the book and ignore everything except the alleged word of God. The word of God takes precedent over EVERYTHING else and they pretty much just simplify every issue into that.

Every day. My parents are homophobes, my classmates and more than 90% of Croatia. Gay marriage is banned, people are not prosecuted for discriminating against gay/trans individuals and one of the institutions we can blame this for is the catholic Church. I would go apeshit on them if talking bad about gays was the only thing they did, even though they do it a lot...

Edit: They're currently trying to ban the Zagreb Pride, held in the capital city of Zagreb. Generally, if you go to a Pride, you can expect to get bombarded by rocks. The police will not do much to stop that.

I hate happy people too. Like damn....stop being all gay in my face. It's not right, I don't wanna see it. Keep it in your own house. It shouldn't even be legal to be gay, it should be illegal to be gay. I mean these damn jovial people are ruining the dreadful dismal fabric of our country with their gayness, and I for one will not stand for it.

Gay is sin, sad is win. It was Adam hates Steve, not Adam and Eve.

I'm Catholic and sometimes I don't get the Church. She says that homosexuals should be treated with respect and not be discriminated against but yet she is against gay marriage.

Have I ever met one who was "afraid" of them, because they thought they were strange creatures of the devil, and had their little minds confused because they didn't look like everyone else? Um...no. But then, I don't get out as much.

Have I ever met one who disliked them, in finding them shallow, petty, narcissistic, vindictive, misogynistic, discontented, throwing immature tantrums at their own private demons and blaming the world for it, and starved for attention in trying to manipulate their way into a culture that doesn't particularly find them as charming in real life as they find themselves?
Why, yes, I saw one of those folk today. When I looked in the mirror.

LOL I love how ignorant people are. A Phobia is a FEAR. the only TRUE "Homophobe" is someone who is AFRAID of a Homosexual. So someone who is just disgusted by them or disagrees with their lifestyle is just a regular person. Stop labeling everyone as "homophobic" because it just shows your level of education is seriously lacking.

They only say that so they don't lose the last bit of power they still have. Yes, I think bad about the church, for good reasons.

But at the same time, each of us have some kind of personality, trait or behavior that we don't like either. Someone could not mind homosexuals but they could be anti-Semitic. Or they could hate illegal immigrants. Or ultra conservatives. Or young/old people. Every single one of us has something that sets us off like that. So while I'd like to condemn people for being close minded, I also can look in the mirror and ask myself if I'm really much different

So many labels, it's a wonder you can see anything.

Fear manifests itself differently in different people. Some express it through disgust, others through vigorous disagreement with the subject in question.

I think you are the one who needs to think before you react, next time.

You people getting technical with the definition, most dictionaries use it to describe fear or hatred of homosexuals. Pull your panties out of your ass.

Anyway, I talk to at least one daily. Ello family.

Reaction? After a few attempted fruitless arguments I typically just hide my rainbow flags under my ass.

Wise words.
Sometimes we fail to recognize our own faults
