Delete that. I've submitted it wrong. I'm a female, and I have no idea what I was doing.

Women in general will eventually sync up with their periods if they spend enough time around one another. For example, at work myself and the three women I worked with consistently for months at a time had our periods all synced up. It's kind of funny how that happens. XD

I'm 30 years old and my period started when I was halfway through 13. I've been super fortunate in not having any slip ups like bleeding everywhere or through stuff. My horror story happened about a year or so ago when I lived in Japan still. I went to go change a tampon and after I pulled it out and was about to put another in I noticed another string hanging. Curiously I pulled that string out and found a second tampon. So I had, somewhere along the way, put a tampon in without taking the other out.

Pretty scary considering if you leave a tampon in for too long you can develop TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) which can make you pretty ill, cause you to lose limbs, or can kill you if it goes unnoticed!

Crazy side story: While living in Japan I had my mother send me a care package full of my favorite American tampon brand and some Claritin-D (which is illegal by the way in Japan) for my allergies. When the box got through customs and inspection I received a letter being told that I could only have ONE box of tampons because anything more than that would be too many "medical applicators". So I agreed to the one box, even though I was pretty pissed they trashed the other 3 boxes my family sent.

They sent me my one box of tampons and along with it was my Claritin-D. I laughed so hard. They confiscated my tampons but they let me have my illegal Claritin-D medicine. Good job, guys.

Why did I have a care package for tampons? Japan only has ONE brand of tampons to choose from. Japanese women mostly prefer pads. They're crazy. I didn't like them so much, but after the situation with customs, I decided to deal with it.

Well whenever my ex had her period the smartest thing to do was to bunker down and take cover in a bomb shelter.

I was writing a very impressive essay at the age of 13, and I had a lot of punctuation errors. I literally forgot a period at the end of my paragraph, and my very hot teacher said "it was very good. Just remember your mistakes for the next time you write." she looked down on me. I was very depressed for a while.

I was always told that due to hormones women are able to kind of sync up with their periods. As for babies, I think that may just be getting the motherly instinct. I don't personally think anything comes from holding someone's baby and I don't think it increases fertility. But then again I've never looked into the whole thing--there may be a study.

OMG. I am so sorry that happened to you. :(

In recent years my flow has gotten heavier (and I've upgraded to super size during the heavier times), but I've only ever had slight spotting from a leak. Never anything like you experienced.

My first girlfriend was on hers when we decided to do something for the first time. I am not a squeamish guy. This is probably a terrible place to share this so I'll just leave this very general post here.

I've had to do the "Oh here, you look cold, let me wrap my coat around your waist" for a couple of my lady friends before. One of them didn't get the hint while in public so I had to growl out while tying it around her waist.

"YOU.LOOK.FUCKING.REALLY.COLD." into her ear until it clicked.

I'd like to just point out here, that not all people who menstruate react the same way to menstruation.

Most of our touchiness comes from the fact that many of us are in serious pain, and put through serious amounts of mental and physical stress/inconvenience for a week a month. A lot of the mental stress could honestly be avoided if we as a society stopped treating menstruation as something shameful and scary. We worry about staining our clothes, and not getting labelled as "hysterical", about whether we'll get TSS (even when we're being careful), and about whether people can smell us, among other things.
Physically it's just a mess of cramps and headaches and other things. We bleed easier from other spots on our bodies, so we have to be more careful about that (and I get symptoms of low blood pressure).
If you're like me and it's mostly a general feeling of bodily weakness as your body releases all your stress, you get yet more shame and anger as you feel like you have suddenly become useless, or lazy, when in fact this is an important bodily function, and is rather necessary to good health and hormonal balance. If I am able to adapt my activities and pace then I am actually calmer and think clearer when I am having my moon blood than when my body isn't attempting to get rid of a thing that causes me bodily stress.

But the thing is, everyone has hormonal cycles. Everyone has emotional cycles. Everyone has ways that they react to pain/stress. Because these things are conflated in the collective mind of our society into being one process when it comes to women, we are deemed "Scary" because of a natural process. We're really not that scary when we're actually understood during those times. So yeah. When Lesbians sync up it's not really as scary.
