Speaking for all of us, no child of the 80's can EVER understand Cartoon Network.

And "Canceling everything that's gd" not only started fifteen years ago with bum's-rushing The Flintstones, Yogi Bear and Bugs Bunny off the network to make room for more Dexter's Lab and Johnny Bravo, but by trying to convince us they were doing us a favor by creating more original programming:
"Some people want to see the same shows they saw as kids...Scary huh?"

(The network tagline that ultimately became the tombstone-epitaph for the Death Of Network Cable.
Now the "kids" are all watching Netflix, where they can actually find the shows they saw as kids.)

yeah I wonder why they allways have to put away good timelines of series and sometimes just take them all off, even those who are pretty good or intressting.
like what was before I guess nicklodion I think it was red rex or something?
There was a couple of really good series that also had some good placed education in it as well.
Would love more not all over the top childish even though some of the older ones was but most not like all over the place.
Like Tom and Jerry (awesome cartoon some seasons not as great) bill and randy "scary"/spooky theme but overall pretty fun and not too over the top scary I think for children, Scooby doo (the better seasons), and they did pretty much a good amount of different shows not all focused on action.

I noticed over the years that every time a good series pops out and it's popular CN always puts it down or cancelation of the series then they put something worse. For example, the series called "Young Justice" was an amazing show and better than the "Justice league" back in 2000 but then they replaced with Teen Titans Go which is a comedy series which half of the time doesn't make sense. Why can't Netflix pick it up? I don't hate it but wth is wrong with CN???

If I recall at least the first season of GO was on Netflix for a while, Netflix in general though is very bad in getting shows since they get charged so much from the cable companies. Hulu tends to be more about shows in general so more than likely to find more stuff there, but I haven't been on Hulu in a couple of years so not sure if they picked up more in the way of older cartoons or not.

On the CN side of things they got a new owner or something of that nature that decided to change a lot of things around, generally not for the good either.

Broadcast tv in the U.S is generally done very poorly, the shows are mostly scripted reality shows bogged down by tons of commercial interruptions. Then you're forced to pay for packages of channels that you dont want or care about, instead of going an ala cart style.

I wish they would bring back the 90's cartoons in general, not just for CN but nickelodeon as well as DC

Most stuff that gets pulled from CN ends up on Bravo.

Imo CN's mistake was brining out these stupid new shows, trying to go live action stuff, pulling the slots for anime at night and on Saturday mornings and ditching their old stuff from their channel.

I heard somewhere, that they felt like they were targeting the wrong demographic for the shows that they had. They want the 10-15 year range group.

So they cancel shows that do not get the demographic age range they want. :3

I haven't had cable since I was 6 so I wouldn't know, but I do know that good shows get canned while mediocre ones still continue *looks at My Name is Earl and Ghost Whisperer* two good shows cut down in their prime.

Adventure Time, Regular Show, Gumball & Steven Universe is a pretty solid set of shows. If you actually go back and look at how long the shows from your childhood lasted on CN, it is usually a lot less time than the likes of Adventure Time have been going for. I think Adventure Time will become the CN show with the most episodes soon if it hasn't already.

I do think it is a shame that CN seems unable to find and stick with a 20 minute show. Nickelodeon have had success with TMNT & Disney with Gravity Falls so I would like to see CN try again.

All cartoons in general are now garbage.

I can't find anything "new" my age that even comes close to comfort. They either all copy each other, and/or use the same humor and jokes. Then again, since today's age of young adults or kids literally have no backbone, cartoons sometimes have to tread lightly.

Never again will you find that awesome subliminal joke or humor from the older cartoons. Otherwise you'd get that kid or mother who finds extreme offense and re-writes how cartoons have to be made.

I'm more surprised how bad Cartoon Network has become. As for "Young Justice", that show should had never been canceled. IMO, I think that Nickelodeon is the only cartoon channel doing better versus Disney & CN these days.

I don't mind SU and Adventure Time, but I'm kind of afraid the former is going to get canned because the fanbase is batshit crazy.

CN is OK by me so long as they keep Regular Show (and We Bare Bears). It does bother me that CN moves slightly-old cartoons over to Boomerang and take up time slots that used to be for golden-era cartoons. Johnny Test is on Boomerang as I type (shiver). It's almost impossible to see any of Tex Avery's or Chuck Jone's work anymore.

Really dude? I think we're in a cartoon renaissance right now. Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Clarence, Gravity Falls, Bee and Puppycat, Bravest Warriors.. there's a lot of really good shows right now!! The ones heavy with plot right now are mostly Steven Universe and Gravity Falls, but Steven Universe and Clarence have gay representation which is also pretty great.
I thought this thread was going to be another SU cancelation scare, I was about to be really upset..

I might be playing the devil's advocate over here,
But I actually think that the NEW Cartoon Network has a better lineup.
When I was growing up, a lot of the shows seemed repetitive and over-formulated.
Now there are linear storylines, different arcs, throwbacks to previous episodes, stuff like that.
The writing is just better. It's as if the kids who grew up on the good old cartoons are writing them now.
Take a look at Regular Show, for instance - there's real character growth. They form relationships, change, etc..
I think a lot of the humor is lost on the younger audiences because the writers were born in the 80's, it's their humor.
