Being popular in from my elementary school to high school meant that you had to be the following:
1) Physically attractive & athletic
2) Charismatic
3) Very smart (aka high grades and teachers are always praising you)
4) Fashionable

It's a lot to live up to, so I didn't have any bad feelings towards the popular students. It also helps that they never picked on me or were mean to me because I was the 'sweet, fat girl' that you weren't allowed to pick on. I guess I was kind of like a puppy? So whoever kicks the puppy is automatically hated or looked down upon by everyone else.

I used to hang with popular kids and party with them but was not popular myself if that makes sense...

LOL that was me when I switched schools. I guess it didn't help that I didn't got to school the first two months and only went two or three times a week after that.

Ah yes, that was me aged 14-15. Sometimes I'd have a 4 day week since I always got migraine headaches. My class room teacher complained about the boring excuses my mother would write. It'd be, "was unable to attend school due to illness/ unforeseen circumstances." Everyone did know my name though and I did have some friends.

At least you had a genuine reason to miss school. I was going through my delinquent phase. A part of my life I'm not proud of lol.

I got pushed up a couple grades one year so I was known as the youngest.
Didn't make people want to be my friend though, so it was a different kind of popular.
I only ever really became popular after highschool, but they're adults with busy lives who don't call.

Huh. When I was in third grade they wanted to move me up to 6th grade. I told them hell no because I never liked the idea of being so much younger than everyone else. I sometimes wonder how different my life would be if I took that chance.

Not much different I'd assume, at least it wasn't for me.
You all end up in the same place in the end.

Haha maybe, but I still like to think it would've changed my whole life and would've came out a decent person instead of the asshole I am today.

I definitely wasn't popular. I was always the odd and in a very small town, it's not a good thing. School was rough, but now all those a-holes are making my subway sandwiches while I have a very nice job. So I'm not too upset about not being popular lol.

I don't suppose you played basketball?

Anyway, as for me, I wasn't popular, per say. I had no enemies, and was on reasonably good terms with most people, but I also had no real friends, or even people I hung out with. I was basically part of the background. Actually, now that I think about it, Bavalt's answer seems similar to how I would have described myself.

Nope, but it didn't really matter to me. No one really knew who I was or what my name was, I never really talked to anyone either. I had this saying in my mind "I don't have friends and I don't need friends" I mean, if people talked to me I'd talk back, but if they didn't say anything then I wouldn't either. I just focused on learning at school, no time to socialize with others.

Not really? I had very little presence in high school tbh, mostly due to being heavily involved with choir and theater. I was smart as all get out but i never really tried that hard in class so i only got average grades. Pretty much i was just someone that everyone knew about but i don't think i really had a reputation in school. I wasn't particularly outgoing save for theater and choir. I was nice to everyone and they were nice back so it was pretty laid back. I guess i never really cared to try and be popular, i didn't really have to try hard to fit in either. Life in the middle is just comfortable

Yes and no. I wasn't popular, but I wasn't unpopular either. Perfect for a shy person like myself.
