Different cultures is cool and here in the US I think it makes things interesting. What irritates me, for an example, is when Hispanics come into my place of work and expect help troubleshooting their tech and helping them buy new stuff and don't speak english. Even worse is when they will refuse to except my help even after I tell them, "Sorry I don't speak Spanish, but I will do my absolute best to help you still." The WORST is when they can speak english decent enough but will still refuse help in english and seem to get mad at me for being hispanic as well and not knowing Spanish. Sorry I was born in the US and we speak english?
I don't understand how the hell you can get by in the United States and not speak english. If you want to speak it in your own home and with your own family and stuff thats cool but everyone else in the country should not have to cater to you.
I wouldn't travel to any other country that doesn't primarily speak english and expect them to cater to me. It's rude and just plain annoying.
Just my thoughts I guess. If you don't wanna be totally American that's totally cool but don't expect any special treatment just because you refuse to make things easier for yourself.

I hav no problem with immigrants and i am all in for cultural richness! But i don't really like how some immigrants act like their culture is superior when compared to culture of destination country. They act like snobs in foreign country, looking down on other cultures morals and customs. Especially older immigrants do this.Best example of this could be an older muslim immigrant who doesn't want to to have anything to do with western cultures only because they feel like they are inferior/dirtier people because they don't worship allah. They tend to keep to their own communities and not integrating to society. yet they still demand support from that western culture that they don't respect or deem equal. Much double standard, such wow.

Edit:Mind you i have similar mind set for westerner going anywhere and looking down on other cultures as uncivilized.

"What race was he?"
"Black"
"Of course"

I'm guessing that most people here are from America?
From living in Vancouver, it was like a big melting pot of all nationalities.
You could especially feel it when going to school, there were no majorities/minorities.
To be honest, the only violence was between people of the same race. It was interesting to note.
Most signage is in Kanji, Hangul, or Arabic - it's just something everybody's used to and no one complains.
I guess that's the difference between Canada and America, there's nothing TO assimilate to here, no real culture.

considering that the American culture is made up of many different ones I don't see an issue*EDIT* for the most part. But they should, at the very least, try to learn the language

I believe there was the discussion of clit removal and selling off/marrying your female children at a young age and not sending them to school also brought up.

What do you guys mean by "should learn the language"? The United States doesn't have an official language (look it up), or perhaps you guys mean should learn the language you guys speak?

No shit?

English should be made the official language, since there are some laws that require you to speak it per government regs.
