Dear rock fans, which is your preferred genre of rock, do you like stuff that's over 20-30 years old, perhaps older than you, modern rock, or both? I'm not going to give specific examples since it's pretty evident which is which if you're a rock fan.

I actually like a mixture of both, but I still prefer the classics slightly over the modern stuff as I feel like the latter is heavily inspired by the former....

Well, modern rock can also be qualified as "alternative", there's many subsets of it, but it's stuff that's been produced RECENTLY as supposed to stuff like Zeppelin from the 60s to 70s. Anything 20-30 years old or older, can constitute "classic" rock.

Modern rock examples, like, I don't know. The Black Keys, Royal Blood, maybe Arctic Monkeys, blah blah blah
