Welcome to the NHK - it made me realise I was virtually a hikikomori.
I stopped being a hikikomori after watching it so you could say it changed my life, and definitely for the better.

I've been stuck on thinking about what this means for a while.

The idea of an anime being important, because it effected me in some way. I don't think I've ever come out of an anime as a "different" person, but there have been anime that put a focus on the kind of person I do or don't want to be, although sometimes it's as general as "I never want to cause someone that kind of pain." Can run with that I guess.

I guess I should post the tile that go with my pictures in case people don't recognize them:

5 Centimeters per second
Hikaru no Go
Plastic Memories
Serial Experiments Lain
Usagi Drop
Terror in Resonance
Berserk
Assassination Classroom
Gangsta

I could explain each of them, but I feel like at least Assassination Classroom may require a little bit of explaining. The reason it's on the list it's two-fold, one because behind the comedy and silliness you get a beautiful example of what a good teacher that cares for his students is. Second, because it is the first anime that I have watched with my daughter. Many days we sat to watch an episode before taking her to school. My wife works at the school and has to to a little earlier, so my daughter stays behind, watches and episode with me and then I drive her to school instead of her going earlier with her mother. It has created a nice little special routine ;)

Here's an odd collage of vague screencaps from some of my favorite anime. I tried to be careful with picking the scenes that most of thes came from, but regardless, each of these shows are great

Neon Genesis Evangelion, number one.
Shinji Ikari was the first character in any media that I found personally relatable.
I found a lot personal meaning in what happened in the show as well.

Watamote would be a number 2, for the same reason, but the imo anime feels flat compared to the manga and I like the manga better lol
