She can still kick my shins and bite when I piss her off

All I could think while watching Toradora was, "That's exactly like my wife at that age."

It's kind of unlawful to be hitting anyone. Unless it is in self defense and it was reasonable for you to use that amount of force. Or, of course, you're cleared to strike others through things like consent and necessity.

I don't see violence as inherently bad. I do think it is overused in our culture (USA) and that it is better to avoid using violence whenever possible. A good friend's mother once told him in front of me (after finding out his girlfriend had been punching and slapping him), "Son, never hit a lady, but if a woman is man enough to hit you, you hit her right back!" I'm not sure I agree with it as the first step response, but I do think that if you assault someone you should be prepared for them to use force to stop you, whether you are male or female and regardless of the other person's gender.

My wife hit me once. I have almost always done very physical work; landscaping, dock work, warehousing (try being told there aren't enough machines and you have to move forty foot long rolls of carpet by hand with one other guy), etc. Much like Dariamus' situation, it didn't go well for my wife, she hurt her hand. We had a discussion afterward and it has not happened since. I have never hit her and do not expect it will ever happen. I have hit other people though, but that tends to happen when someone is trying to punch you unconscious.

Bottom line, don't hit people without a compelling and genuine justification. It is rude, hurtful, and immature in most circumstances.

I'm not the type of person who punches people on a regular basis. Most disagreements can be solved by logic and reason. However, if a person does need to be hit (self-defense), I don't make a difference between male or female.

I was going to say, why can't we just teach kids to stop hitting each other period, but I've learned something more important from this thread:
New Moral: Don't hit anyone because hands are delicate objects and you will probably hurt yourself more than the other person.

^I used to be able to break flooring tiles and bricks back when I did martial arts. My record was something like 12 stacked tiles in one punch. As long as you condition your bones and make a tight fist that is aligned properly with the wrist bones, the likeliness of injury is reduced.

hitting anyone no matter if you're female or male just shows how incompetent you are as a human being, 99% of all arguments can be solved if both people involved take a chill pill and discuss what happened and try to come up with a solution that works great for both parts...

But if that doesn't work then it's self defense and no matter if it's self defense from a male or female doesn't matter since if they're aggressive towards me then I'll be aggressive back!
