Man I feel for ya. D.C. is just getting worse and worse these days.

Heck. Throw in N. Va. into the rest of that mix as well as MD.

I live in N. Va. myself and I grew up in the town I now live back in and the crime here is just stupid now. We used to have maybe 1 shooting or stabbing every few years. Now it's every few weeks it seems like.

Nope. It's pretty proven with population increases also comes increase in crime. Heck, the area I live in, the subdivion itself used to be farmland. That used to be what all was around here. There was also a golf-course that people would travel for miles around just to come to it. Now where it used to be is hotels, a giant shopping center, restaurants, an expo center, concert venue and hotel, etc.

More and more people move to this area every day that either got a job with the government or a government contractor due to our proximity to DC and Quantico, etc. Just recently this area was even voted the worst in traffic. We are right off the 95 corridor and every day there are traffic backups and other issues. Long story short there are just too many people moving here and they are bringing more bad elements with them.

What used to be a 5 minute drive to/from work for me is now 15 minimum due to more traffic lights and bad conjestion. I don't know how people who live in cities like DC and New york do it. I guess at least there they have some public transportation.

Oh well enough about people and conjestion. Long story short the crime has increased here exponentially in the past 25 odd years. This is the town I was born and raised in. Only lived away from it for about 8 years, but even during that time would come to visit family. i;ve seen and lived through the changes. Not all for the better.

This is the second time in three months I've been in close proximity.

The subway I was riding earlier this year had a fatal stabbing. Guy was drugged out of his mind and stabbed someone to death for no reason.

The murder rate in DC is up over 40% from the same time last year.

That sucks man, but the real question is, what did you have for lunch? Because if your lunch sucked it shouldn't matter.

You should go to San Francisco and ride as many trains as you can until you see a person commit suicide by jumping onto the rails.

This sort of thing has made me hopelessly late many times.

Im not sure which is worse idiots who commit suicide in front of trains/trolleys or people who are dumb enough to not watch out for them.

We have a similar problem in Oregon where people get hit by the light rail system because they're too stupid to pay attention to what they're doing.

I have less sympathy for the dumb people. That track is literally the only area the train can travel. Trains are loud and conspicuous. If one catches you by surprise, you sort of deserve to get hit. It enrages me when I see people goofing off near the tracks with headphones on.

At least the suicidal person is easy to pity and feel sorry for.
