Hello fellow anime-loving musicians! So first of all, I'm not ashamed as a man to say that I've been watching Wakaba Girl on Crunchyroll and have been loving it! However, as a musician (and as a drummer to boot!) I can't help but feel as though the OP has some points where the entry is just a little off-beat. Am I crazy or is this what's really going on?

Thanks!

Haha, I know what you mean. But all that is going on is that the opening lyrics are on an off beat, slightly displaced from the main groove of the drums. Although it sounds like the song is out of time, it's actually not.

Yeah I know and that's exactly what's been bugging me. I guess I wouldn't be too surprised if the drums employed some offbeats (and there are some in the song), but I was surprised by the lyrics being offbeat (assuming that's the case) PLUS the lyrics and the drums being displaced from each other. Not that I don't trust Ray as an artist since she's a pro lol but I guess I'm questioning whether this discrepancy was deliberate or not.

Perhaps I should have been a little clearer. I don't have a problem with the drumline. It's the timing of the lyrics that throw me off. Even as an offbeat, it's not like it's cleanly on the 'and' of a beat either, but sounds like it's on the 'e', just one sixteenth removed from the beat. It's just a hair off from the drums, so I can't tell if it's me or if it's the song, and if it's the song, nor can I tell if it was deliberate or not. I mean who does that lol. You can have a pickup on the eighth from the bar before or whatever, but starting the lyrics one sixteenth from beat 1? Really? In my experience that happens more because of human error haha.
