Thanks Shenglong20XX and asharka for your responses. asharka, I think I'll give Hadigirl a try.

It still find it confusing why they are catering the teaser Manga 2.5 to an English speaking audience (because of the English subtitles) if we don't have a way to continue them once we are sufficiently "teased."

Unfortunately, basically, what we got with Manga 2.5 was an experiment. You can tell how old they are from how much animation there is compared to just stills with possibly some minor animation.

The people who did Manga 2.5 didn't plan for much more, and they are more like a group of 2-hour pilots broken into bite sized pieces on Crunchyroll.

I will say that Color Mail was designed as an e-manga in the first place, but the jerky way the animation in some of them works, coupled with that you get only a sample with far too many, well, to 'recommend' any of them is a stretch. I'm sorry to see them go, not because they were a good idea, but because they never got beyond being an idea.

Tonari no Kashiwagi-san (Manga 2.5) was pretty good. Time to check out the others before they are gone!

I was already half way into Space Adventure Cobra. But I found myself watching a bunch of new anime and Cobra hit the back burner, time to watch them all in one shot.

If it helps sway anyone who's on the fence about watching Hadigirl: Sae, the main character, is voiced by Aya Hirano.

I agree. I just finished Hadigirl as well. It was a nice little anime.... It would be nice if Crunchyroll could pick up the manga.

Oh my goodness, better hurry up ... the Motion 2.5 are some of the few things I can catch in Beijing without "alternative measures" that slow the streaming down to a crawl.

Managed to finish watching all the ones I wanted to see in time. I must say, I actually really love this format. I can focus my attention on it better than manga. Anime I'm certainly judging the animation of, and as such I might be happier if Toei downgraded One Piece to this format so that they can stop pretending to animate and make their real animation a lot more special. This format also has no excuse for dragging out content and slapping together filler. This format doesn't really even need as much animation as it had, I realize I just need the audio synchronized to the manga panels. The main thing I didn't like about these was the lack of completeness, and inability to legally continue the manga.

It's disappointing we only had a year to get to this, and it's now being dismissed. CR's specialty is in simulcasts. Of course I want to watch all the catalog shows and special videos, but it's difficult to find time for them when keeping up with the latest shows and chatting with friends about the latest. My lack of viewership isn't disinterest. I wish I could show my support outside of direct viewing, as I do with Steam. An observed "Plan to watch" status perhaps.

Hadigirl was outright great. I hope we can get the rest of it (and a return of its Manga 2.5 at least). I'd be happy to see more of Tonari no Kashiwagi-san. Unfortunately the only one I can continue didn't have content of my interest (or maybe that was because of the jumping around, I'll give it a fair try ... when I have time).

Are you speaking of Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru? If so, I watched a couple of the Manga 2.5 eps for it before giving the manga a try since it is available here on Crunchyroll. I'm 60-something chapters in and find it holds my interest. The Manga 2.5 seems to have been random chapters pulled from different volumes. That probably explains why it was jumping around. The manga itself is much more coherent; though there isn't any clear direction in the story (the author acknowledges that in some of the Afterwords). However, I find the characters are charming and this sort of slice-of-life genre interests me (mainly from an interest in Japanese culture). It's sometimes funny, sometimes touching, and sometimes odd. Give it a try if you have time...

Edit: Even though the manga doesn't jump around like the Manga 2.5, the chapters do not always progress chronologically. (Again, this is something the author acknowledges and says they may supply a time line for once the series completes)
