Your opinion on Stephen Colbert as new Late night host
Posted 9/15/15
For all my fellow late night talk show fans whats your opinion on Stephen Colbert so far? he's only been on for the past week or so but I think he's doing a great job. once he gets completely comfortable I think he's going to be fantastic as the new late night host. I really enjoyed his interview with Joe biden and his little bit on Donald trump and oreos was hilarious I'm definitely looking forward to more of Mr. Colbert!

no. his Colbert Report show outran its course and im not sure why he was selected to be a late night host. hes very sarcastic and is anti-entertainment. I know the Colbert Report was a bit but thats really how he is. you think hes gonna like interviewing Ariana Grande and Ricky Gervais? late night shows suck anyway. the whole monologue and band thing are done. if it was all done differently id watch. thats my opinion

Lmao wow maybe you would of liked Craig Ferguson he was my favorite late night host he definitely did things differently he had no band he freestyles his interviews with no notes and had a gay skeleton robot with a Mohawk as his co host lol

Colbert with Vice President Biden is already being regarded as a classic in light night TV it was really good more about losing a family member to tragedy and Colbert let audience in on his sad story that he never talks about great job

Yeah they talked about some deep and emotional stuff and i liked the way Colbert conducted himself during the interview he was calm and sincere and handled it really well. I had read this article some lady wrote saying Colbert was too nice and asked Biden boring questions,I was like are you serious? Lol

Colbert was picked pretty much for the same reason Jimmy Kimmel and Bill Maher's "Politically Incorrect" got upgraded from Comedy Central to late-night ABC (within the Capital Cities corporate-parent networks):
The networks don't understand this mysterious Cable thing, but hey, the fans seem to notice THIS guy, let's give him an upgrade to a real job!
They couldn't upgrade Jon Stewart to a "real" job, of course, and not just because he was retiring, but because his material was too politically edgy for the networks. Colbert seems commercialized enough to be non-edgy on demand...As if Monsters vs. Aliens wasn't proof enough.

(And frankly, I never found Colbert funny either--
In comedy, there's a rule that "The comic shouldn't enjoy telling the joke too much, because nobody likes a bully."
That's what made Jon Stewart so hilarious on the Daily Show, that he was constantly expressing our facepalming frustrations at the lunacies of Fox News, Donald Trump, North Korea or the Bush Jr. era.
Colbert Report was supposed to be parodying the Bill Reilly style of blowhard self-dictatorial political uber-hosts on CNBC, but it was pretty darn hard to tell where the egotistic-host parody ended and the real egotistic-Colbert began.)

On the Colbert Report, yeah it did get a bit old and he was shifting the character to be more like himself. It must be exhausting to put on a character time and again when you think it's already run its course. Sarcasm was really the main avenue in that format as a fake conservative, because if he was not sarcastic saying crazy stuff, it would have been just like some real conservative shows.

He really isn't working for me. Jimmy Fallon is the only entertaining late night host for me at the moment (at least when it comes to the big five networks).

I love Late night TV.

Fallon is my favorite, I'm absolutely a Fallon fanboy. Colbert I've loved on TCR since forever, so I'm beyond stoked he got his own late night show.

Right now best hosts -- Fallon, Colbert
Worst- James Corden

My favorite late night host right now is Conan o Brien and my favorite of all time is Craig Ferguson. Fallon is good too i actually saw him live when i was working at universal studios it was cool as hell and im not a fan of James Corden either after ferguson left the late late show a piece of me died lol
