Has anyone found a good series to use for a D&D world?
What world would you want to play in?

Akame ga Kill
Berserk
Claymore
Record of Lodoss War
Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?
Tears To Tiara
Spice Wolf
Slayers

Not exactly sure what you're looking for as far as worlds go but those are good western style fantasy ones that would work, without too much heavy editing of the classes/races for the rules.

i'm looking for something with a well developed world that i can use for a setting, something that i can build my own campaign in. something with a story that's broad enough that i could tie in my own characters without ruining the story.

Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? should be good. The D&D mechanics are mostly built in to the setting already, and the universe should give you plenty of flexibility to create your own god with it's own family.

SAO's Aincrad setting is big enough that there are plenty of stories to potentially be told there, but you're stuck with perma-death (for better or worse).

Full Metal Alchemist should work nicely: you can have your party be a mix of soldiers and alchemists, and the world is large enough to allow for plenty of stories to be told.

Spice and Wolf is a very fleshed out world, that could allow for some interesting characters; but that world is mostly at peace, so you'd need to find an interesting way to add in combat.

If you want something in a more modern setting, A Certain Magical Index/Scientific Railgun could be interesting. Plenty of leeway for character creation (between the psychic powers and magical powers), and a broad array of factions both with in, and fighting for, control of that city.

Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon.

Classic AD&D dungeon crawl. Use the mega-dungeon of your choice as the chassis and go for it.

No Game No Life could be used as a D&D dungeon because it has 16 different races including humans and what we'd consider monsters, although there is no war because everything is decided by games, you could bring in cards and some board games and make mini games that test skill and luck with it, and you can use those games to create bets for in game ie: I'll give you knowledge of orginization if you win if you lose I get your technology. The goal I'd make is to actually find your way back to earth
