My old phone was a Virgin Mobile Samsung Galaxy Reverb - 4in screen, 3G only, Android 4.1
My new phone is a Virgin Mobile Data Done Right Samsung Galaxy S5 - 5in screen, 3G/4G LTE, Android 5.0.

The S5 is using 200+MB for an episode at low quality.
The Reverb used 100MB or less an episode on auto quality.

Any tips to get the data usage down?

The S5 is streaming using 4G LTE. Is this the cause? If so, how do I get it to stream on 3G?

My mobile network options on the S5 are: CDMA, LTE/CDMA, GSM/UMTS, Automatic.

GSM/UMTS is 3G.

That mode doesn't work for me. I lose all mobile data when I choose it. I get the option to choose manual or automatic but going through both, I can't get mobile data back on until I turn the mobile data to a different setting.

A location would help since Virgin Mobile operates in quite a lot of countries.
Which could be GSM or CDMA depending on location.
VM USA uses sprints CDMA for 3G. Nearly all other places use GSM/UMTS

I personally think there is something more then mobile connection as to why the app is using more data though.

I'm in OH, USA.

I can't get that mode to work though. It can't find anything to connect to when I switch on that mode.
