Gambling is gambling, no one forced you to lose money. I don't see the guys spending thousands of dollars and taking out loans for things in FGO getting away with the crying that Monkey backlash did.

You're missing the point of the controversy. The fact u had to roll to get something wasn't the primary source of the problem, rather the actual rate of the roll was a tiny fraction of the advertised rate. And thereafter, this was found to be in other drops as well.

Perhaps you don't mind old-school organized crime style corruption in ur activities; but this is like going to place a bet on horses in Kentucky Derby, only realizing the payout is a fraction. Or, the slot machines ur playing never oaid out jackpot. Or, dealer is using loaded dice.

There is gambling; honorable gambling, and then there is theft.

Finally, keep in mind that all gambling (at least for now) is considered "illegal" in Japan (because Yakuza maintains monopoly), so this system was also deemed illegal. Americans may not mind, but in Japan at least they supposedly have standards.

The bigger problem with Granblu/social games is that everything (including starter equip/character) is roll based. This is horrid game mechanics, designed simply to troll the players to pay money. Traditional video games have fixed fee: You pay for the game; in some cases a monthly subscription fee. Games built on microtrasactions that effect viability of game (SSR characters, summons, gear) is a pay-2-win model that destroys the integrity of the industry.

But yes, spew ye CO2 all day long, nothing to see here.....

The overblown controversy has nothing to do with what you originally said anyways, you don't have to pay for anything to get by just fine in the game. There's nothing in the game that requires you to pay. You only pay when you want something you didn't roll for free and you want it now and if you don't get it then you've got no one to blame but yourself. You hating gacha mechanics is a separate issue.

A 0.045% rate and a 0.025% rate and a 0.010% rate not being published within 0.0001 points of accuracy don't matter even if you're spending thousands of dollars there's still a chance you will never get it and you've got no one to blame but yourself if you spend thousands fishing for it.

It's closer to being mad about not hitting the powerball jackpot than any of those btw.

People only spent thousands of dollars because the odds were rigged; the odds u cite above were not the actual odds. Furthermore, the event advertised a "double chance rate" which would imply significantly better values, but is was not so. It was not because people rolling knew of this. Other characters had higher, "more reasonable" drop rates. You make it sound like people are stupid or something, and their ignorance is to blame.

This is more like, realizing winning Powerball was actually 1 in 3 billion, instead of 1/312 million or whatever; to use your metaphor.

And keep in mind, in case of the new year event character, u had limited time to buy it. Future events were linked to whether you had the full set of past years characters; so player who have it have advantage over others. Is it "game breaking"? Perhaps not, but alas ur ardent defense of mobile games is like suggesting that only a particle insertion of a penis into a vagina is "not rape".

The point is, the game developers sole business model is to steal you money; and not earn it honorably. Do you have to pay? No. Well, why do we just simply not pay for anything. Who needs video games, anime anyways?

If you insist upon being butthurt, then u shall be so. Or, you could try at least to have some dignity in life. But perhaps you rather play "the villain"...

No matter, if you wish to remain blind to the world, so you shall. But I cannot, in good faith, advise "the People of the Internet" to act as accomplices of their own murder and facilitate the success of social gaming, as it were....

People are still spending that amount of money on these games without a sparking system that caps it out after a certain amount of rolls for gbf. A higher chance to get into a high rarity character pool does in no way guarantee you're going to get that character when you get into it when it has alot of different things in there anyways. So sure, defend those with 0 impulse control that can't understand there was no guarantee, I'll continue "playing the villain".

I'm sure they're really glad you're to defend them.

Ah, well there are 2 issues here. The first being, whether any rational person should be playing/paying these games (which as you indicate, no), and the second being whether these types of griefing games should even exist.

They exist because there is a market for them. If everyone "stopped being retarded" and stopped paying, the business model would vanish. Clearly, you would prefer a more traditional gamestyle, would you not? No matter.

As to the first issue, yes some people have poor impluse control. It may also likely root of most world's problems. Now, you can either wash your hands of it in an anarchist sense and let everything exist as is. Or, you could try to do something about it, however effective it may be.

In the case of Japan, they have big (demographic) problems with current/projected population to be cut over half by end of century. Although one can argue the specifics, behaviors such as impulse control; and ones exploiting it as such, are indeed contributing causes or otherwise. That requires a /walloftext right there.

In other words, you may not care about other peoples problems. That is fine. Or, at least until the 7 billion humans on the planet, not u, come to take ur stuff; as a result of a failed civilization.

Do you want heartburn pain now or later? Other people's problems, will become your own in due time. Case in point: 2008 economic disaster. You may have been responsible and paid ur morgage, but other peoples incompetence brings you pain. So, wouldn't it be best to deal with it now, while still "manageable"?

WTF this has to do with video games? If the market moves to shady P2W, or otherwise microtransactions, practices for mobile gaming platform, people who want "normal mobile games" will be left out in the cold. So, their lack of impulse control, directly affects the type of games you can play. Their problems are now your problems; whether you like it ir not.

Anyways, this discussion perhaps a bit "off the rails" at this point yet again; alas, hopefully you can at least understand my logic. In the case of this game series, we will have to simply disagree on the matter.

Now, I am off to go shopping; thar be NFL on soon, and peoples are apparently coming over to watch on me TV..... Until next time....

When people get exposed to the anime, more people will start playing the game.

It's inevitable, especially with all the waifu and husbando potential.
