Francis looked at the new person intently before flashing his salesman smile once again. "Hello stranger! The next town, Redwood Town, is just down this road. Oh, where are my manners, I'm Francis Blackthorn, merchant extraordinaire. I'm just passing through, selling my wares to any and all who can afford them for my motto states, 'If you want something, I probably have it!' Now, what's the name of the pretty miss before us?" He finished with a pleasant smile. Personally, he's getting good at doing this. It actually helps calm a lot of his future customers down and future enemies as well.

For now though, here in front of him was indeed a pretty little thing. If she's gonna buy something there'll be a large discount for her. Also, he has to see whether or not this pretty miss would be hostile or not.

Minutes before Nera appeared taki decides not to intervene and leaves for the next town, hoping to find someone that he's been looking for, for a long time. He sets off in a rush as he's noticed that the male has noticed him already. He takes one last look at the squabble of people down there and heads off.

Francis took the gem Squall presented to him. Indeed it was a ruby, a Blood Ruby to be exact, that's just equal to the size of his thumb. These things cost more than regular rubies and they look prettier too, like the color of freshly spilled blood. It sparkled like a glittering crimson star as he held it up to the light. "This would do, actually. I know a good number of people that would sell their sons and daughters to me just to have a piece this big. Welcome aboard, just pick a spot at the back. You can sit with the supplies, take the carriage, or sit with me here at the front."

He then looked at the newcomer, his eyes shining with curiosity. He wouldn't ask the little miss whether or not she needs a ride since she has her own carriage. But this newcomer might need the assistance. "How about you, pretty miss? Do you need a ride to town? If yes, all I ask for payment would be any tradeable goods you can part with like dazzling gems, pristine weapons, unique crafting materials, unusual ingredients, and or near-high quality supplies. So are you interested?"

Victoria looked at the merchant who was charging fir rides into town. but if they spend all theif money getting a ride, what are they going to buy in town? Victoria cleared her throat, "Miss, you may take a ride in my carriage for no charge at all, if you want. I'm from Redwood, you see.

Francis looks at Victoria with a hard look, "Little miss, I am a businessman, first and foremost, and you little miss are poaching on my prospective markets." He turned to the other girl, his gaze softening before saying, "As I have said, I take anything as payment as long as it's useful or tradeable. I'm not asking for much. That would be a great travesty for me as a merchant if I just technically robbed you; and that's bad for business." He slowly turned his sight on the horizon, the sun shining brightly. "It's your choice, my dear. If you accept my proposal then I made another sale today, if not then so be it."

"Wow...so friendly." Nera thought. "Thank You, both of you, for your very kind offers, but I really shouldn't burden you with me." she replied. "Is it all right that I just follow you on my horse? I am new around here, and have no idea where to go." Nera blushed as she realized how much she had talked. "So much for being secretive." she thought.

Francis nodded with a pleased smile on his face. At least this one has a mode of transportation to rely on. Walking through the wastes to reach the nearest town would take you a week at most in travel time. If one has a horse, a carriage, or any type of transportation, the travel time would get cut in half. So no transportation would equate to death most of the times. "Well pretty miss, you seem to be a smart one. It greatly helps a lot if one travels through the wastes with a form of transportation instead of walking all the way."

He looked at them all before nodding once more, "Alright then. Well let's get a move on now people. It'll take at least two to three days to reach the town, I reckon; provided that we aren't beset by bandits and those horrid beasts that resembles a walking carcass. So we must make haste; and when night reaches us we must stick close to each other...the beasts of this dead land grow active when night grips the land." He gripped the reins tightly as he prompted his wolves to move at a sedate pace.

Nera blushed when Francis complemented her. "Very friendly, it seems. This already seem like a lovely bunch. If only I could stay with them long." she thought. "Well, I might give away my secret!"she thought, then she suddenly shook her head. Then she looked around,"Oh what a fool am I! I hope nobody noticed."

"then we should travel back into town" Victoria then remembered that her excursion out into The Wastes was a secret.... "I'll go on ahead, okay? .... And, could you not tell anyone that I was here? That would be lovely." Then she led her carriage down the road.

Francis watched Victoria lead the group a good distance away. When the little miss' carriage was a good distance away from them, he raised a brow before his eyes narrowed. "Something's gonna happen when we reach the town, I can feel it. Better keep our guard up." After softly saying his piece, he turned his gaze to the young man, "I'm sure there's a bounty board in that little town. Maybe it'll be a bounty station instead of a board."

Nera was trotting when she suddenly thought." I am very weak in the state I am in. Maybe I should buy a weapon?" Then she shuddered." My father had a dagger!" As she remembered her past, tears started to fill her eyes. She quickly brushed them away and thought,"This-this weakness-needs to stop. I am in a land I don't know, all alone, and I need to be strong." So she trotted up to Francis and asked," I am sorry sir, do you have a weapon? I have 50 coins." She pulled out her money bag, ready to pay.

Francis looked at Nera as she made her inquiry. Coins were of little to no value in certain parts of the world today. But the metal of those coins do hold more value instead. Fifty coins, when melted down to a single bar, would fetch quite a nice price and would finally count as proper currency to most areas. "Remember my motto, pretty miss? 'If you want something, I probably have it!' So, what do you need? A sword, a dagger...well you look more of a dagger user than a sword user. But come to think of it some of my daggers can be constituted as swords..." He slowly rambled as he tied the reins to the side of his seat and stood up. "Nala, Rex, keep us steady. Aela, Laius, behave." He receives a howl in response.

He climbed on top of the carriage and gracefully walked towards the large wagon at the back. When he reached the end, he made a show of swinging inside the wagon like one of those acrobats he saw once when he passed through the more prosperous towns. It took only a couple of minutes before he found a nice pair of single-edged daggers...well actually they looked more machetes instead of daggers due to their size and blade. Francis also grabbed a pair of leather sheaths for the blade, a couple of whetstones for maintenance and a small vial of poison. He quickly returned to the front with the items on his arms. "Here you go, two daggers...err...machetes...my word, I can't believe that shop on the port town south of here sold these things and call them daggers. Anyway, here's two finely crafted weapons for your protection. As you can see, they're both deadly and works of art due to the floral engravings by the blade. These things have this ingenious mechanism where there is a secret container inside the hilt that looks like a glass needle. This needle continuously drops poison inside the blade. The blade has a strong hollow section that runs near the back of the blade with very tiny holes that dot near the edge of the blade. Thus, your weapon would be really detrimental to your attacker's health. Since this weapon is mighty costly and you are a new customer, I will only ask for 25 coins as payment. Along with this I give you these sheaths, whetstones, and this vial of poison for free. Think of this as a merchant's good will to a future patron." He finished off with a pleasant smile on his face.

"Thank you very much sir!" Nera exclaimed. "This was much more than I ever would have asked for. I should give him some more stuff." she thought. Then, as if her horse understood her, Fotia shook her head. "Do you think we should keep the money, Fotia?" Nera thought. Fotia neighed loudly. "Alright, Fotia, I guess we do need it for food. But I will pay him back, in the future." .
