Well, if the guy was stealing a basic need he could be very poor, but if some bitch is stealing Naked palates in sephora for example I would tell an associate there. There's a difference between being too poor and desperate versus being a greedy and risky little bitch.

Did the guy look like he could be homeless ??

Honestly, if the guy only stole one thing and already left, tell the cashier wouldn't do much because he most likely doesn't want to go through the trouble and file a report to the manager or something.

I know most associates will be like, "Eh, really?" *sighs* "Well, nothing I can do now."

I also witness something similar before but it was after I rang the customer up and the manager happen to see it as well. It was at Levi's Retail store and after he finished purchasing his items, he took a look at a few wallets that we have for sale, literally on the same counter as the cash register and took one and walked away.

My manager and I were both still trying to process what just happened, then my manager just told me, "Now that's called theft." and goes back to doing whatever he was doing like nothing happened.

See I work at a QuikTrip. These little shits affect our bonuses. corporate makes the employees pay for missing product by taking it out of my bonus. We would probably just write it off as stale or broken and then forget about it. i mean a little food here or there aint gonna break the bank, but if just a few people are consistently doing this it could mean hundreds of dollars in missing product in a relatively short amount of time.

So yeah just tell an employee if they don't give a shit, oh well.

Today I was at Duane Reade buying snacks one guy there getting also (something full of tray)
he was looking around that nobody is seeing it, he take it goes outside of the store (like nothing happen) i was there and couldn't do anything, I couldn't even tell the sales person that the guy is stealing.

Do you think I should tell the sales person?

The thing is you don't know what the guy are capable of, he may be revengeful type of person.. Like if you told on him and he saw you.. He may follow you home. Probably ending up bully you! I know I watch too many Japanese Animation! XD

Unless you're into Martial Art/Street fighting heh.

I hate thieves, I understand that we should tell the manager or sale person that someone are stealing.. you might want to tell them in private, like showing them on the tape, so they'll catch him next time.. give him/her warning, next time she/he will be permanently ban from entering the store ever again.

I work at a grocery store and I've caught multiple people trying to steal product all the time, but it took me a little bit before I could really confront the crooks. So I always had back up at first, but now I'm pretty good calling out the thieves I see. Though it's impossible to stop all of them sadly

I found an internet shoplifting community where girls brag about stealing five of them from Sephora, but I've never actually seen it happen myself. The members of this community are teenage girls who do it for thrills and cry when they get caught. There's actually an entire online shoplifting community, tho... pretty depressing that that exists....

Comms like that, I wish would get hacked so that their identity could be found out, and they could be reported to the police.

Sometimes people really make me reconsider my stance on doxxing.... seriously. Mainly animal abusers and low level garbage. Most of them get caught eventually and have to pay back what they stole either through jail time or juvie, maybe money if their parents can afford since most of them are still teens... but it's still not enough to prevent them from doing it again.

anon hacking them would be quite funny. they'd be scurrying around like little idiots. of course anon probably wouldn't do it, cuz hacking teenage idiots isn't ethical, but it sure would make them think twice.

some people i know did work to get the shoplifting blogs removed but you can't do much about reporting the bloggers behind the blog to the proper authority, most of them erase EXIF data from their pics.
