It seems like whenever the "what do you like to do" threads come up it seems like they all follow the same formula: I like to watch anime, play video games, sleep, ect. Now I got into anime as a way to practice my Japanese, but came to realize that hey, some of these are pretty good (then Clannad broke me, but that's a different story). I don't care for video games in general, though I do like to play Aces High every once in a while. I like to do outdoorsy things so who else here is into the hunting, fishing, camping, type things?

I know what you mean, it seems theres only a handful of outdoors type people on the forum, or at least that are regular thread posters.

I love to go outdoors whenever I can, I absolutely hate being indoors for long periods of time.

I wish I could do more outdoors activities- sadly I don't have really means or people to do such things with..
But I really like to get out~! Especially on warm, clear days to have the sun warm my skin. (*´ー`)

When I go outside it's either for my daily exercise or escapism. I find nature very calming if i'm in a stressful funk, though I don't always have the energy to go out and frolic around in it.

video games aren't for me at my age..

Outdoors is not a big thing either though. I do enjoy gardening, but not a big one for camping, hiking, etc. I prefer more urban areas. I do a fair amount of outdoor stuff for work though.

I am a geologist major, so I spend weeks to a month out in the field at a time! There is nothing like camping out in a tent over spring break... looking at rocks and drinking water with iodine tablets in it! Mmm!

I have some nice pictures on my account if you want to see them. Just some of the prettier ones. I have like 300... but most are rocks. They are also big so I cant seem to upload them here...

I've been slacking while since I've been in college (since I wasn't very close to water and keeping guns on campus for bird season was a pain in the ass). But I do enjoy hunting and fishing. I am not much for big game and got out of archery after a stupid BMX crash messed up my shoulder. Camping is always fun with a good crowd and good booze. The same goes for wheeling, skiing, and sledding, minus the booze. I ski in the winter and ride bikes and MX when I can't find snow. Anime is awesome, but I like being outside more.

I go solo-hiking on weekends, nothing too big though, mainly great lower peaks (just over 5000ft). I want to do more serious stuff soon like hiking up to Mt. Baldy and/or San Gorgonio, the tallest mountain in Southern California, but I feel like I need some more experience first.

I actually went and made a profile just to reply to this. haha. But yeah, Big outdoors guy here. Not much of a hunter, but i do like hiking. do a lot of rock climbing and basketball too. I just got into diving recently but the ocean here is freezing, even with a wetsuit. So, yeah, there are anime watchers out here that are pretty active outside.

I go outside everyday to walk or jog, go college, get fresh air. Anything to avoid sitting at home and playing games.

Hiking and camping are awesome. I wish I could do them more than I do, I used to go camping all weekend at least once a month. These days it is twice a year if I'm lucky. When I am at home, I don't ever rise before noon if I can help it. When I am camping I rise with the sun with no problem. Hiking all day with a trail lunch, brews around a roaring fire after supper, sleep and do it all again after an awesome breakfast cooked over open flame!

I used to fish a lot, but there aren't enough places where I'm comfortable eating what I catch that don't cost a lot to fish at around here (thanks for all the river dumping back in the day GM). I just can't get into fishing when I'm not going to be filleting it for lunch or supper.

I'm thinking about getting into small game trapping to supplement my freezer stock. I'm not sure I want to try to get into full blown hunting, it seems like a bigger investment of time and cash than I have handy right now. I am also starting to get into foraging, there are a surprising number of tasty things out there growing wild.

I do also go rock hounding. I collect fossils and gems. Best gem finds are a few walnut sized garnets and a ninety-six carat star ruby, which isn't as valuable as it sounds. Star rubies, while worth something, generally aren't really high priced. My best fossils are a pretty big trilobite, part of a fossilized tree, and an actual piece of fossilized bone (never had it IDed past the fact that it is bone, getting even approximate dating and anything on species is kind of expensive without connections).

So yeah, the outdoors is pretty awesome. Best reason I can think of to own a whole lot of property other than farming or hunting is to have hiking and camping sites on your own land.
