Worst public transportation experience?
Posted 9/18/15
I've been taking buses or subways everyday since I'm like 6. I have a ton of war stories.

One particularly bad one was a few days ago. An old man got onto the bus, which was at capacity. He put his MetroCard in and it was a little short of fare, like a few cents short. The bus driver, who was a total ass, yelling at people to "Get back" tells him that he can't get on the bus. The old man explains he was visiting his wife at the hospital (which is the first stop on the line) and that he had taken three buses that day, and had no money left to fill his MetroCard. The bus driver tells him too bad and proceeds to shut the bus, and kick everyone off, just because one old man was short a few cents. Meanwhile, at least once a week, I don't have enough on my MetroCard and I get on.

I actually went to go yell at the bus driver after we all had to pile onto another bus, like literally ready to punch his eyeballs out, but he was standing around, joking with another driver, hiding. If I ever see him again, I'll probably spit in his eye.

What have been some of your bad public transportation experiences?

I'd be careful threatening public transportation employees.

People making out and having sex on the public train.

Extremely smelly person (smelled like he hadn't bathed for a week) sat right next to me.

Some kid kept touching my head on the bus.

Annoying panhandlers who were clearly not homeless ask everyone for money.

People jump in front of the train and get killed.

One time a guy that sat right behind me was moaning on an entire 45 minute transit...
That wasn't traumatizing at all...
After that I learned to bring head phones.

The NYC subways are filled with strange and facinating people. I like that.

Everything from drunk people to people starting fights. I try not use public transport as much as possible, thankfully I have a car, but every now and then I have to use it for some reason or other. But why oh why is there always a crazy old man on every bus, it's like a given lol.

Does the huge northeastern power outage that shut down the trains leaving me stuck in a NYC station overnight count?

- goalkeepers ("I'll catch that train with bare hands!")
- beggars
- people who stink
- everscreaming babies

Nothing out of the ordinary...

Probably would be during a change from subway to LIRR in Penn Station. A drunk guy fell and whacked his head on the floor hard enough to bleed. That wasn't my gripe; it was the crowd of A-holes stepping over and around the poor guy instead of doing something. I found a police officer, who I have to say ran like a bat out of hell to go help the guy. Props to the NYPD. Thumbs down to the herd of soulless subway riders.

Other than that, just the general headache that is trying to get around on our combined bus and subway system here in Dallas (known as "DART"). Nothing wrong with the employees, the equipment or the riders, but whoever is in charge of planning the train and bus routes is a clueless idiot.

He should be available as DLC for Street Fighter V

OT: The only bad experience to have with a bus is missing it. Good thing that they made changes in public transportation in here. Now is "Miss one and the next one will come between 15-30 minutes instead of an hour".

My worst experience involved a homeless guy

I think the most outrageous thing that has happened to me was a few weeks ago while I was on the train. I had chosen the worst place to sit and some homeless person decided to sit in front of me then began masturbating while screaming obscenities. There was one point where I began to close my eyes and pretended i was sleeping but then i realized how stupid that was. I left as soon as I reached my stop. It was so uncomfortable.

Even without it being a crime it's still a terrible thing to do. Look at things from their perspective: they sit in a chair all day driving in circles. If people think their daily commute is boring just try driving a bus around all day. You can't use the radio, a heating/cooling system with basically no power behind it is all you have to resist the elements, it's an incredibly uncomfortable and boring job people do because they've no better options, not because they've always dreamed of driving a damned bus.

I get mad when they just drive past me, but that's it. Beyond that, their day is probably going to be worse than mine. I let the small stuff slide.
