Natsume Yuujinchou. A pleasant surprise for me. I binge watched the whole series in a little over a week and enjoyed it so much.

I'm watching that now.

Awesome. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

the legend of condor hero is great. 3 seasons, tho only 1 is dubbed, second is subbed in english, 3rd, first 6 are subbed in english, the rest are subbed in mandrin. i should write it all down and have my mother translate it back in to english.

Shin Sekai Yori (From The New World) and Dennou Coil. I suppose they're not for everybody but I think they're very much worth the time to check out

Was Zetsuen No Tempest popular? First half of that was especially good, I thought.

Not sure but I'd agree that if it isn't well known it should be, love the intelligence it has.

YGGDRASIL?! The only place I've heard that name is in an older anime called Ah! My Goddess! Although I think it took some things from old nordic myths, so maybe I'm imagining a connection where there is none.

i dont think there is connections between the two, unless Ah! My Goddness! takes place in an VR-MMORPG game

No, but funnily enough, YGGDRASIL was a computer system in that show.
Also, what do you mean by underdog anime? Just one that isn't very well known?

yea, i wouldnt know what else to call it, so i just called it underdog. Like an anime that is underestimated but when you watch it its amazing..therefor nobody watches it and it doesnt have allot of popularity because they assume it will lack in content or be a copy of another famous anime.

Well, in that case, I guess I have a few. For starters, I'll probably get some hate for this, but... Spider Riders, anyone?

Kids on the Slope is another one I would mention. It's a music anime set in 1960s Japan, focused around 3 high schoolers. It's really good, especially if you're a jazz fan. The characters were great to watch, and although the story isn't some kind of grand adventure, I like it very much.

The last one I'll mention is Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet. TBH, I don't know if this is an 'underdog' or not, but I don't hear it talked about very much, so I kind of assume it's not very popular. Anyway, I love this show. The brilliant colors and fantastic English dub (I know, I know, sub over dub, but you really need to check this one out- it's actually better than the Japanese, I think), along with their use of language/culture barrier really made it for me.

I have watched Gargantia on the Verdurous planet but never in english dub so i will defiantly check it out, i would recommend checking out overlord as well, if your a fan of SAO it might hit close to home but if your not a fine (like me) i still recommend you watch it. The intro is extremely catchy and even though there is some perverted moment it doesnt focus on it....but i will also try to check out Kids on a Slope might be something i enjoy. There are several animes i watched where i expected it to not hit home for me like Baccano but did

Ygggdrasil is indeed from Norse mythology. I've seen it used in quite a few places, so it's one of those "popular obscure" (if such a contradiction could be used) terms.

As for underdog, there is only one.

There are no mistakes, just opportunities. At least, it was an opportunity for me.

I just had to leave the image in the reply.

Have no fear. Underdog is here!

It's actually like a 60's cartoon show, the only reason I know about it is because I grew up in the 90's when Cartoon Network used to air cartoons from every decade.

Princess Tutu - My favorite Magical Girl series and one of my all time favorite anime. I don't see it get even close to as much love or recognition as Sailor Moon, Utena, Precure, Madoka, and the like even though it really deserves to.

Stella C3 - I don't see this talked about much and when it is it's usually a mixed or negative reaction. I really enjoyed this though. It was moe school club with some cool drama. I really liked the MC in this one and that's honestly a rarity for me.

Wake Up Girls - So underrated in a time where idol anime is in vogue. As much as I love muse, I honestly felt WUG had the better anime. The most heartwrenching feels I had while watching Love Live were those final episodes, I was experiencing those feels and then some throughout the whole of WUG.

[email protected] - Again, a series I really enjoyed that I don't see talked about much so I assume it's under the radar.

Also, Whisper of the Heart is my favorite Ghilbi film which seems to me pretty underdog (or just not as talked about) compared to their other work.

I understand lol Futurama was so good...I dont know why people didnt like the ending it wasnt bad u.u

I hope you understand Futurama isn't anime xD But YES it was so unappreciated. The Simpsons is going the same rate as SpongeBob, but I never liked The Simpsons in the first place They end a lot of good shows too soon.

I'll definitely check Overlord out. Thanks for the recommendation. If you get around to trying that English dub, I hope you like it!

some people mentioned legend of the legendary heroes and ergo proxy already which were amazing, idk how popular it was when it aired but it's been a long time since i've heard mention of school rumble, one of my all time favorite shows, shura no toki also one of my favorites, other shows i really enjoyed that i don't hear much of any more.

the banner/crest of the stars series, arakawa under the bridge, kore wa zombie desu ka, star driver, R-15. i'm sure i could find tones more but i'm going to stop now
