I've seen a bit of Someday's Dreamers and Guyver. I was just looking at Bubblegum Crisis and Angel Cop, and thinking I should finish them. Eheh. Does anyone remember Kekko Kamen or Cutey Honey? Old school ecchi is hilarious.

I just finished rewatching Angel Cop a few weeks back it's always a fun watch. I just re-started Gunsmith Cats this week too. Bubblegum Crisis and Crash always intrigued me but now that you mentioned it I don't think I ever watched it subbed, only in original Japanese (and I speak no Japanese ). Kekko Kamen, La Blue Girl and Cutey Honey were always a trip to watch with some friends.

Female protagonists were so stoic and badass in the 80's and 90's. Oh lord, La Blue Girl. That's basically hentai though, isn't it? Or am I thinking of those silly live actions with the cross-section views? Haha. If you wanna talk about old hentai, how about Urotsukidoji and Dragon Pink. Eheh.

Well when I saw La Blue Girl it was their R-rated VHS version prior to the later "un-edited" version coming out. I haven't seen it since so inda forgot they re-released it until you just mentioned it . We should probably keep away from the hentai discussion here as to not get your thread closed (although, in closing I will say you have good taste in the titles you mentioned :D) .

You're 100% right on the strong female leads though .

Kekko Kamen is pretty funny, yeah. I remember Urotsukidoji from the VHS days. =P A few others... Kite and Mezzo Forte are alright. (Haven't seen Kite/Liberator yet, it's actually here on CR now.) And how about Armitage III, seen that one?

I was wondering as I typed just how liberal CR mods are. I haven't been on the site too long. Thanks for all of your help regarding new series'.

Yvw. Ayaundwolf. I'm glad to find I'm not the only one to appreciate classic anime these days. All I keep hearing is how much the art sucks.

I actually still own the VHS tapes of Armitage, 8th Man After, Angel Cop and a few others but haven't had the chance to watch Armitage or 8th Man After in years due to never upgrading them to DVD. My last VHS deck bought the farm around 2000 so I have A LOT of VHS tapes just gathering dust at the moment. I should re-watch it now that it showed up on Viewster.

OK, one other classic OVA: Baoh: The Visitor. Similar to Guyver, pretty gory, and his abilities include the incredible Break Dark Thunder Phenomenon!

That's so ridiculous. I prefer the art of older anime. All of the frames were still hand-drawn and the action scenes were amazing. The characters didn't look as cartoonish as they do today, so perhaps that's why the younger generation shies away from it. I got rid of all of my VHS tapes, but I remember when I was younger I would record anime with the VCR so I wouldn't miss anything. Haha.

I'm a pack-rat when it comes to collectibles . I have like 2000 VHS tapes (both bought and recorded) with no way to play them . My copies of New Dominion Tank Police and Lensman were both from Sci-fi Channel (way before they became SYFY Channel...still have no clue why they changed to illiterate spelling). I need to eventually get one of those USB VHS decks for my computer and start digitizing them. I agree with you 100% on the art though, just thinking of the effort for them to hand-draw each frame with minimal computer help makes it seem that much better for me.

You're really appealing to my nostalgia here. Oh shit, I remember Dominion Tank Police. I stopped watching sci-fi after that anyway. Their content just isn't as good. I miss Farscape, Sliders, First Wave, etc.

lol: Sliders was the first show I ever joined a campaign to save. I boycotted Fox for almost a year before they announced someone else (Sci-fi) was buying the show. Fox dropped the ball on so ooooo many Sci-fi shows around that time. I haven't seen Farscape in ages and I forgot First Wave even existed until you just mentioned it. It was a fun show, too. I still wonder how properties such as Supernatural, Warrior Nun Arealla, Lady Death and Witchblade could get anime but not naturals such as Sliders or Farscape.

Fret not, I'm sure the Supernatural anime is awful, and I can tell you that the Witchblade one is. Actually, I confess to never having watched Supernatural at all. The crazy fandom makes me shy away.

Ahh, I rewatched Farscape a few years back. The show still holds up really well.

Are you a Star Trek fan?
