I was just reminiscing on another thread about how much anime has changed since I was a new fan as a kid, to the old veteran fan I am today. After 25 years, I've watched anime go from just being something you could catch only on Saturday mornings, to having a permanent major impact on pop culture with thousands of series available 24/7. From production quality, to mature content, top shows, etc... It's been amazing to see how much the world of anime has changed over the course of 25 years.

So, I ask you, how much has anime changed for you personally as a fan, from the moment you were first hooked, until today? How has the anime experience and your perceptions of the genre as a whole morphed over time?

It's definitely changed a lot less for me than it would be for someone who started watching in the 80's, but it's still kind of a huge difference from, like... I guess I started watching it around 7 years ago...? Even if it's a smaller gap, the gap is still huge.

I feel like anime is both better and worse than it's been before. There's a constant increase in pandering to an awful pedophile demographic (fight me), but there's also more experimentation with the medium than ever, and the production quality of anime at its best today is something that otaku back in the day couldn't have possibly dreamed of.

Anime inspires me to always be a good person.

- To be more confident in yourself. Don't lose to anyone. Always try to be at the top. Never give up.
- Family and Friendships are very important. Help one another to achieve dreams/goals/ambitions. Try to understand how they feel.
- To become these characteristics: Loyal, Selfless, and Determined.

Anime reminds me about how you should live life with the best positive attitude than remaining bitter about the bad things.

Sadly, not all animations are so inspiring due to focusing on a "particular audience" at times and in the result makes others believe that is what all anime is without ever realizing the existence of the shows with actual depth.

Honestly, since getting back into anime it has inspired me to do more. I was going through a VERY rough patch in life. Now i still work a crap ton, but I am trying to work out more, eat healthier, lose weight and get back into art, painting, drawing and building models again. At least doing something other than just working and playing videogames all day. Now, just need to get back into the dating pool.

The genres and sub genres are getting more refined by the year. The biggest impact that has on me is that the sort of tropey humor that a lot of one off series are known for has become extremely well developed, so I've been having a hell of a good time every season finding stuff to watch that's just totally hilarious.
