I could honestly care less about the pope and I'd be really irritated if it affected my work commute.

His presence in DC made the commute much easier.

So many people stayed home that I actually manage to get a seat on the metro yesterday. That never happens.

What makes you think conservatives don't care about people? Caring about people has nothing to do with being a liberal, from my experiences liberals tend to strongly favor groups over the conservatives. Liberals do not believe in equality, liberals are the ones that control the media, the most biased and influencing thing there is. Liberals want to destroy morals, liberals shame those who do not agree with them. Liberal ideology has killed the most people in the world (other than natural causes). Liberals are the embodiment of envy.

Ahh you are projecting and scapegoating. This is why I think conservatives don't give a rats ass about the poor. They only focus on the wealthy they only seek war, they are xenophobic and fear mongering. If you are unsure as to what projection is and scapegoating here is what they are projection is taking traits and characteristics you have and then placing them onto another. Scapegoating is blaming someone else for a problem you have created or is generally no ones fault but you feel a need to blame someone. You want to know the reason I don't think Conservatives give a shit about people your statement about lazy people which is scapegoating and not dealing with the actual problem.

So humble yourself and remove the log from your eye and love one another.

Oh yeah and there is this major problem you all have with welfare which helps the poor directly.

Out of curiosity, did you feel the same way about Benedict XVI and John Paul II?

The reason he is protected so much is because if he was harmed or killed here it would spark something massive maybe turning everyone on us for failing to protect their symbol.

imo they werent as bad as Francis, but they were still way too liberal for a pope.

Why is anybody trying to argue with Wingopanda? I thought we all already knew for a fact that he's either trolling or a brainwashed ISIS puppet who hates happiness and loves looking down on others. Don't let one extremist start a religious war in this thread. The OP's trolling attempts are bad enough.

Back on topic:

I think a lot of people are overlooking the significance of the Pope speaking to Congress in a joint session for the first time ever.

You missed one he could be a paid troll yes there are paid trolls.

On topic yes it is being overlooked that it is the first time a Pope has given a speech to the joint session which apparently went pretty well at least for those that liked the ideas he is putting forward.

I really do like this Pope he embodies what is good with that religion and leads by example skipping the high power lunch with congress to go eat with the poor there is a thumb in the eye for some speaks volumes to his character. Now if some of his followers would actually follow his lead the world would be a better place.

Hmmm. Maybe I'd be inclined to take more interest in his being here if it effected me directly, but seeing that it doesn't, and I'm not religious, all I can say is 'Oh, that's nice.'
