Toradora, Clannad After Story, Pet Girl of Sakurasou, Golden Time and My Love Story are all good to me. None are perfect, but no anime is.

EDIT: I can't believe I forgot Ai Yori Aoshi and Love Chunibyo and other Delusions.

Mirai Nikki - A beautiful story that shows how far a girl is willing to go for the guy she loves.

Yosuga no Sora - How two siblings can be passionate towards each other without being annoying like in a certain other show. *cough* Oreimo *cough*

Cory in the House - A better love story than Twilight.

No love for Rokka? Adlet and Flammie man that love was strong- love you hate you kill you thing hoping they get a spinoff show!

Their relationship really took off in the second half of the season, but it's not enough to call Rokka a love story.

My favorite love stories in anime; as you can tell, I generally prefer love stories that move well past "I love you, please go out with me."

Clannad/After Story: Tomoya and Nagisa fit together quite well, and over the course of the 2 seasons they both mature and come to understand each other's strengths and faults in a way that's rare--not just for anime, but for any television show or movie.

My Love Story: Just refreshing to see two people who love each other and who really want to be together. The show doesn't show their development much passed the "rose-colored glasses" stage of the relationship, but I'll give it a pass for avoiding the unrealistic melodrama that tends to accompany most shoujo anime. (Side note: Why do the anime of great shoujo manga never finish their stories?)

Golden Time: Ghost Banri keeps the show from being great, but the basic relationship here is one of the best. They move from friendship to attraction and eventually to a point where they can accept each other for who they actually are, scars and all. Toradora is the better show--this is the better love story.

Eureka Seven: A great view of a young couple; he figures out the difference between a crush and real love, she figures out how to love and be loved, and they both learn how to love each other in both good times and bad.

What no Bunny Drop?.. By the way some D-bag spoiled it for me while I was searching for volume 2 of the Manga. I'm still gonna keep reading it though.

Oh I love them both as well. I even got an artist to do a personal sketch of Taiga at Otakon for me. But with that said, I relate more to Saito. kinda scary how much he reminds me as a teenager, even with the girl I was with at the time.

I find that ultimately the best love stories in anime, and in fiction as a general rule, are those that aren't the prominent premise of a story. Rather something that develops during the progression of a different entire story. To focus entirely on romance seems to create a stale environment that ultimately bores me. Now of course there are exceptions, something like "I Can't Understand What My Husband is Saying," does well for itself because of its short length and the point that the characters are already in an established relationship.

So to say a few, some that might be unconventional or even not even explicitly stated throughout the story, would be Rock and Revy of Black Lagoon, Ed and Winry of FMA: Brotherhood, The Major and Batou in Ghost in the Shell. These stories may not be our most conventional love stories, in fact, in two of the cases, there isn't even one point that the viewer can say that the two outright confess any feelings of romantic interest, and in fact that's what makes the stories more interesting as a result. It's something to search for, something to look between the lines of conversation to see.

Black Lagoon was one of my favorites to watch. Obviously its one of the animes where the dont say exactly what they're feeling but you kind of understand by their body language and how the talk to each other. Rock and Levy is one of my top favorites!
