The source of Legionnaires "outbreak" (if it can be even called that) was not an issue with the drinking water, the city never issued any boil water advisories.. In my opinion the media sensationalized it like they do everything else

More than enough people got sickened and died for it to be an outbreak. That's ridiculous.

And boiling water would've done nothing. That's why they never issued an advisory.

Legionella generally only poses a threat to individuals with weakened immune systems, the very young, or the elderly and it exists practically everywhere, They've actually been shutting down schools in Chicago recently due to the "threat" of a bacteria that infects about 20,000 people a year.. New Orleans SWB announced earlier today that the advisory will continue until at least Friday morning. But that's OK, they'll be updating their technology...some time next year. *Slow clap*

If a water main breaks or if they are replacing a line you will get a warning. The older the infrastructure in your city the more often water mains will break. Get a water filter for $20, I wouldn't drink unfiltered water straight from the tap in any large city.
