My first anime was Deathnote, I only watched it because a crazy neighbor was watching it one night with his windows open. The volume was so loud it seemed to be in my bedroom. Finally, I heard a commercial, and I wanted to see what the weird dialog was all about, so I turned off the volume on my TV and went through the channels until I hit Funnimation. It was the second to last episode, I think, but they began the cycle again shortly thereafter and this time I was watching. I think my cable provider dumped Funimation with little warning so I ended up buying Deathnote on I-Tunes, put it on my I-pod, and watched it on my TV off of the I-pod. I also had to buy all of Solty Rei and all of Ouran High School Host Club. Suddenly I realized I was an addict and nothing would be able to help me.

Have to say Voltron in 1984 when I was 3. Though I know it wasn't labelled an Anime in the US and heavily edited.

DragonBall Z on Toonami back in the 90's.

I remember the very first episode I watched. It was the one where Vegeta fought against Recoome.

Vegeta lost that fight, but I really admired his persistence. Dude didn't give an inch.

Hmm, ya know when i think about it this ones kinda tough. Anime was one of those things that, as a kid, my parents wouldn't let me watch. Heck the closest thing to it that i was actually not scolded for (somehow) was Avatar: The Last Airbender. But I think the first anime that i watched long term was Naruto (I got to see it with my friend because i would go to his house every saturday and watch toonami with him) and while i really enjoyed it, i didn't get very into anime. He tried to get me to watch one piece which came on right afterward and i just didn't like it the same. I remember seeing FLCL on toonami sometime later and thinking it looked really cool, but i had no idea what was going on in it so...
The first show i went out of my way to find and watch online was actually No.6, and it was because i was bored and someone online suggested it. It was good, and i decided to look around for other shows on Crunchyroll where i had watched it, and around that time is when KLK began simulcasting. And i'm positive that KLK was the one that did it for me, not particularly for the over the top, well, everything about that show, rather it was the fact that nobody had any idea what was going to happen next. It was a show where really anything could happen in the next episode and everyone online was just as excited to see how Trigger was going to follow up the last episode! Looking back it was a pretty good show, but i wouldn't put it in my top 10. But because of it i finally got an experience similar to my friends from elementary school when DBZ was airing on saturday mornings.
