So, I've decided to save up money from work for the next two months, which will give me $1,500.. And I intend to spend it all in one go on Manga and maybe a Anime Collector's Edition or two. But I will mainly be buying at least 120 manga with that money in one go, in order to give my Support to the industry. It's a shame to know it's not doing as good as before.

Anybody else do anything similar before?

1500 in one go? Sounds like too much for me, but I could never afford it anyway. I rather buy 2-5 volumes per month, that's my limit^^

If I want a complete series I try to look for special offers or buy them secondhand

I support the industry via subscriptions, but I could never justify that kind of expenditure.

Once I graduate from college and get my career going, I plan to save up a shit ton of money to buy a bunch of Manga volumes and possibly some Anime Blu-rays!

I'm only doing so since I've currently got nothing to save up for such as bills, so I have some free money to spend. Everyone's got their own limit, so I don't blame you c:

hmm i've never done that, but i tend to buy in bulk when books a million or barnes & noble have one of their B2G1 free sales. Plus with the store card ($25 annual for each) and coupons they send in email, I save an extra 10-20%. So hold on to that money until one of the bookstores near you have one of these sales and you can really stock up

I agree with the poster above about shopping sales. I've never spent $1500 in one go, but I like to save up as much as I can for Rightstuf's 12 Days of Christmas sale. I've gotten some really good deals, primarily on anime, but a few on manga. I like their "bundle deals" where you get several volumes at a discounted price. They have more available during the Christmas sale, but also offer bundles throughout the rest of the year. Usually it's 5 or 6 volumes for $35-$40, but right now you can get 14 volumes of Jojo's Bizzare Adventure for $85.99. Two volumes are skipped (starts at 1, ends at 16, volume 3 and 7 aren't included--don't know why since they have those in stock, maybe they're overstocked on the others?).

Amazon occasionally does Buy 3 Get 1 Free, and Rightstuf usually has a sale going for one or two specific publishers. The latest where I was able to buy anything was Dark Horse. Bride of the Water God, for example, was $6.14, $3-$4 cheaper than usual, basically the equivalent of Buy 3 Get 1 Free. It's worth the extra time and effort to shop around even for manga, but especially anime. Sometimes the price differences are pretty substantial. Example: Beyond the Boundary Collector's Edition is $161.98 at Amazon right now, $107.99 at Rightstuf. But Amazon/other sites are cheaper on other things, so it depends on the item.
