So I stumbled upon an article about why Crunchyroll isn't worth paying.
First of all I'd like to bring up that one this was posted in November 2013 and 2 the CEO of Crunchyroll posted a reply to the criticism. Which he handled like a champ.

But the main reason for making this thread is this quote from the first article "keep all ad revenue for themselves." So was true at the time or back when Crunchyroll was legal at all? I'm aware that Crunchy can't post actual numbers of the money they make but I'd like to know if the quote was true and if so how much of it % goes towards directly towards the industry.
According to the CEO of Crunchyroll subscription money that foes to industry goes are distributed by which anime you watch and how much time you spent on them. Is it is true for ad revenue too?
P.S How do I change the title of thread?

You can't directly change the title of a thread, but you can report your post to moderators and ask for a title change if you feel one is needed.

Moved this over to the site questions area, since it seemed like a better fit.

To the best of my knowledge, ad revenue is treated similar (if not identically) to subscription revenue, and always* has been. Other monies, like from the store, are used for other things, but like the article states, part of what they do with the money gained from each show (by people watching) is to pick up similar shows or later seasons of the same show, or maintain the license for what you just watched, so that's going right back into the industry.

(*CR started off as a fansub site. I was not a member then, and don't know the details of whatever money may or may not have been taken in at that time. I only joined after it went legit.)

EDIT - Oh! I forgot at first, there is a distinction between the ads you see during a show and ads on the front page and such. Those may well be treated differently.

Publishers are satisfied with the amount of money they make by using Crunchyroll, if they would make more somewhere else they would dump crunchryoll. that is why Capitalism works. Nice to know that my subscription goes to just the shows I watch, I should drop the bad shows now that I know that.
