You can try Yesasia for Japanese or other Asian related stuff.

Here's the link: http://www.yesasia.com/us/en/home.html

Is cdjapan cheaper than amazon.jp?

I thought Amazon JP didn't ship internationally. Or at least some merchants don't.

I've been buying CDs off amazon JP for quite a while now.

I did a price check and cdjapan has cheaper prices and cheaper shipping.

They should never ask for your SS number. All they need is your card information and your cdjapan account information. I've bought from Cdjapan before and they were safe then. I don't know what would be going on with them now but don't ever give out your SS number and/or your bank account number. Your card is not the same as your SS number. Even if you get a different card and change your bank account somebody might be able to access cash through your SS number. I would contact CDjapan themselves and let them know what you found. They should be able to tell you themselves what their website requires and what it doesn't.

I hear Amazon JP is cheaper if you buy a shit ton of stuff to get free shipping or something, cdjapan is cheaper if you buy less. (I don't know how much exactly is considered "a shit ton" though, since I've never bought more than a few things at a time.)
Honto has even cheaper shipping but their cd selection is not as large as cdjapan, I think. But it's worth checking out.

I don't think international shipping gets free shipping.

The Social Security number appears to be a requirement for Verified by Visa (and also Verified by Mastercard) and not CDjapan. Looking up online there are numerous conversations about why the two card companies need that information (along with complaints about the system itself). It is only requested when the payment is coming from the US - if I make a payment through Verified by Visa from the UK I don't have to input our equivalent of the SSN.

Contacting CDjapan won't do you any good. They will say that if the information is required by your card provider then you should speak to your card provider. All CDjapan (and any other online business that uses Verified by Visa) are interested in is confirmation from your card provider that your payment is genuine.
