Okay, gonna try and be as descriptive as I can.

At random moments, the video will just stop playing. How this looks is that the video will freeze and go silent. If there are any subtitles on the screen, they vanish after a moment while the video is still frozen (even when the character was in the middle of talking)

So far, only refreshing the entire page can resolve the issue. The video then starts up again, but around 20 seconds before where I actually left off when the pause happened.

Right now, this issue is present in google chome and I believe firefox as well

I've cleared out caches, but the problem persists.

Hopefully someone know what i'm talking about.

Have this problem as well sometimes but never thought of it as anything "special". I always assumed it was something about the connection.

It's normal. Welcome to Crunchyroll. This is their standard level of operation. Their video streaming has been like this for years, constantly fluctuating between decent and terrible. At the moment, their servers for some regions are exceptionally poor. My region too (AB, Canada) is affected, and has been getting very shitty streaming for a month now.

Yup, 6 years and counting of fluctuating between decent and terrible.
Let's just blame Shaw, even if you don't have them.
