The problem with cops in the US is that they're becoming more militarized, really. Not all police departments have the problems that others do, but regionally it seems the PDs in the South seem to use guns as a first resort weapon, while others use tasers. All cases that could've allegedly considered cop brutality seemed to have happened nearer to the South. We do love our guns, but seriously, guns should not be first resort. There are lighter weapons that can subdue a person effectively without injuring or killing them. I'm not saying cops should not have guns but guns should not always be first resort if the suspect is merely suspect and not doing anything openly with malicious intent, just "shady". They shouldn't pull their gun unless the suspect is confirmed to be armed with a weapon themselves, and they shouldn't shoot willy nilly. That's my take on it.

Either way, real or fake, I think Zimmerman was in the wrong from the beginning, the guy should not have acted as he did, and it's sad that he was never dealt a proper verdict for his actions. Due to double jeopardy laws he obviously can't be tried again.

I remember when someone tried to kill him recently... he pulled up next to him and tried to shoot him or something like that

I have to dispute the accuracy of the meme. A "one-man army" should not need to resort to lethal force to "defend" himself from an unarmed 17-year-old.

Edit: I see you replied to a post just like mine. However, double jeopardy does not matter if you bring in more evidence or not. He cannot be sent to trial for the exact same case again. Say person A is tried for killing person B but person B is really still alive but faked his death and person A was acquitted of the crime he can then go and really kill person B and nothing will happen to person A.

Name one place in the entire country with laws that work like that.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_jeopardy

You cannot be charged for the same or similar crimes more than once if acquitted of the first.

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't read into it enough. It seems there is a possibility of a retrial, but it is unlikely. In my example, a retrial would occur.

Your example works only if A commit a perfect crime though. The murder of B would leave traces, if the traces lead to A, then those new evidences will guaranteed lead to retrial of A. Somehow if A was convicted on the first trial, then double jeopardy might happen.

I think he was legally justified in the killing of Trayvon Martin; but as far as his character goes, he's definitely more rotten than cow sh*t.

If the media would stop using 5 year out of date pictures of Trayvon, I might give more fucks about something. But really, I can't because the media created this stupid-ass shitshow.

First they started editing pictures, then they edited the 911 tape, now they are getting the shit sued out of them and they make a media shitshow over a fucking retweet?

He's a terrible man to feel proud for shooting down a defenseless teenager.

He needs to learn that he has affected everyone close to Trayvon, that he took away someones life.

It's pretty hard to find recent pictures of a guy who's been dead for years... If you can find recent pictures of Trayvon Martin, you're either faking it or you're one talented necromancer.

You mean the edited pictures Zimmerman's side used to falsely claim Martin smashed his head into the concrete? Or the 911 tape that shows Zimmerman disobeying his instructions in order to continue chasing Martin? Which media is getting sued over this?

Zimmerman retweeting something wouldn't be such a big deal if the retweet wasn't about him feeling proud of murdering an innocent, helpless kid half his size. He could've just said something like "chilling @ the beach" and it wouldn't have gotten much attention. Instead, he's like "yeah, I killed him. The justice system can't touch me. Ha ha!"

The media used pictures of Trayvon from when he was 13, not 17.

"edited" pictures?

Doesn't matter, George is suing NBC, Trayvon is dead, and the courts found George not guilty.
