Phone Model:Samsung Galaxy Note 2 SGH-i317
Streaming Via: WiFi
Service Provider: AT&T UVerse/AT&T Mobile Wireless
Android OS:Jellybean 4.1.2
App Version: 1.1.5

"There was a problem playing the video. Please try again, or contact support if the problem persists."

I keep getting this error every time I play any anime show. The error just keeps popping up even though the video is playing in the background with full audio and subtitles. This error persists even when I'm NOT using chromecast and just viewing the video normally.. I have tried logging out and reinstalling the app multiple times.

Forget it.

I just uninstalled and downgraded to 1.1.4 instead. Works just fine now.

Please fix this in your next update. I will NOT compromise my privacy/security for your metrics system.

You figure it out.

I don't work for crunchyroll I just found a fix and I'm sharing with people... and you don't have to turn off adaway, you'll just add one address to the white list o.o
Besides you're compromising a lot more your privacy/security by using an apk that you probably downloaded from outside the play store, as the play store only hosts version 1.1.5 now.

We just released version 1.1.6 of the app to address this issue as well.

I am just now getting this problem. It started today. I am running version 1.1.6 of the app on a Note 4 (SM-N910P Android 5.1.1) and my Note 10 (SM-P600 Android 4.4.2). With the Note 4 this happens on both cell service and WIFI, the Note 10 only has WIFI. Uninstalled rebooted cleared cashe, the hole nine yard but still no luck. Also- I am not rooted on either device nor am I running any add blocker apps or anything.

-Edit-
Just found out I can add/remove anime from my queue and what not, just can't play from the android app.

I'm on version 1.1.7 of the app. Galaxy S5 G900F, Android 5.0, rooted, with Adaway.

I'm still having this problem, a "There was a problem playing the video" dialog box while the episode itself continues to play in the background. Pressing Retry simply brings the dialog box back, and pressing Back stops playback.

To be frank, it doesn't seem to make sense for the blocking of an analytics domain to throw out an error that claims it was unable to play the video, that cannot be dismissed without stopping the video, even as the video continues in the background.

Thank you for this post. It's good to be reminded that there are people out there who assume the best of others, don't automatically point fingers everywhere else, and research other possibilities when something goes wrong.
