1 - Read or Die (R.O.D) and the sequel R.O.D the TV
2 - Fullmetal Panic (3 series total)
3 - Fruits Basket
4 - Outlaw Star
5 - xxxHOLiC

(I just thought about it, other than R.O.D the TV, I don't think any of the others I listed are on here) But I hope the list helps anyway.

I'm fairly new to anime myself, the first one i watched was SAO (Sword Art Online) and after i watched that i simply fell in love with anime, been watching for about a year now. I've watched quite a few since then so my top 5 will have to be:

1. Sword Art Online
2. Fate/Stay Night - Unlimited Bladeworks
3. Akame ga Kill
4. No Game No Life
5. World Trigger

Runner ups (in no specific order):

1. Attack on Titan
2. Yona of the Dawn
3. The World God Only Knows
4. Durarara
5. Fate Zero (Sort of a prequel to Fate/Stay Night).
6. 07 Ghost
7. Log Horizon
8. Blast of Tempest
9. Asura Cryin'
10. Rokka - Braves of the Six Flowers

Ofc this is just my personal preference, i like action, mystery and a hint of romance. Your tastes might be different so try some out and see if you like them. All of these titles you can find here on Crunchyroll so you should have no problem finding them. Good luck!

Hi, I've moved this to our Advice, Info, Recommendations forum (and modified your title a bit to make it more clear you are seeking recommendations).

1) We do have a long-running favorite anime thread in the Anime forum, so you could browse there. Here's a link to the last page, but you can look at earlier stuff as well: /forumtopic-2/favorite-anime?pg=last

Here are two shows I often recommend when I don't really know anything about what the person asking likes

Tonari no Seki-kun - I swear, each episode is this is the most fun you can have in 10 minutes.
Gankutsuou - It's an adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo, told from a different viewpoint, plus mecha and spaceships. It works! Also, it's visually quite stunning.

Like others have said, it all depends on what you like.

That said, I can't recommend Tonari no Seki-kun enough. I'm with lorreen on that one. You should watch it...as should everyone else here.

These are some of my favorite anime. I didn't know what kind of stuff you like or were looking for, but you should still try these. Some people don't try sports anime just because they think they won't like it, but they won't know unless they actually try watching it. Same with other genres. Try things that you haven't tried before. You might find a genre of anime that you didn't even know you would like.
