I think cyber violence is a serious issue not being taken seriously, if we include most cyber harassment crimes in the index. You can destroy a person's name through slander and libel, or worst yet engage in the online sex trade via sextortions. At the very least if someone hits me I'll know who they are and can press charges, but on the internet even revenge porn is legal in most states.

I don't see what that has to do with anything. Just because you consented to the act didn't mean you consent to distribute it. Also, sextortion can include unwilling victims victimized through their webcams. Quite nasty stuff really. I had a fetish for it in High School but that's past me.

I like how the UN put Saudi Arabia in charge of a human rights panel just shows how corrupt they are.

Hell they had China leading it for awhile. How big of a joke was that?

Unless you are a member of Falun Gong then you are just arrested imprisoned without a trial and your organs harvested while you are still alive. But other then that and the fact the whole victory thing is a big fat lie. China is a fair country to live in

Quite relevant. Anyway, there are laws in place like harassment, extortion, etc etc. It's illegal to hack into someone's webcam and take video/images, just difficult to persecute for obvious reasons. You're talking about something else entirely. Cyber violence they are referring to includes 'trolling' and 'spamming'. Get the picture? Very different one they're concerned about and frankly it's not even close on the richter scale of the world's problems.

I too was shocked when I found out. Anita Sarkeesian. Anita Sarkeesian! Not even Emma Watson. Anita fkn Sarkeesian. I'm legitimately at the point where I hope they just heard some stuff about her though the wrong grapevine, it was a slow week and they said "why not". There are people who think Feminists believe everything to be sexist. Anita has come out and actually stated everything is sexist and she has to point it all out... This woman is so far gone that she can only see the world through a set of completely indoctrinated eyes. She's a cultist and a liar.

I don't see why cyber violence excludes such a crime given the definition I believe you gave.

"The U.N. defines violence against women as “any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts.” The report notes that cyber violence is an extension of that definition, that includes acts like trolling, hacking, spamming, and harassment."

Still, I'm rather offended it thought of women, why I believe a college student committed suicide after his lewd acts were distributed.

I'll be fair to note, this excludes such things where consent was given, such as the case of the Stella Ann/Alyssa Funke, although she did suffer harassment as a default, which I believe is illegal anyway.

I've yet to read the article, but I assume this Anita Sarkeesian is referring to her detractors from the Gamergate scandal? Tsk, I admit gamers have gone a bit far but this is too authoritarian an approach. I love it.
