Squall waved and left the room heading down to the bar and out the tavern. Squall began walking toward the town square asking a few people just to make sure, soon enough he was In front of the board looking through the posts.

Victoria heard the conversation about Ozwald, eyes widening. That's the illegal trade that Father has been complaining about! I need to figure out more... Victoria quickly snuck around to a clothes shop, the clerk was more than happy to help her when they realized that she was the duke's daughter.
She tucked her long hair into a hat and put on some simple pants and a shirt. Then she rubbed ashes on her face and clorh to make it appear more dirty.
Walking outside, Victoria kept her head to the ground and shuffled back to the tavern. She sneaked in and hid in the corner, waiting to see what the travellers did next.

"Your only annoyances are competition in the market and bandits...?" Aoi sighed. "That sounds like heaven to me... My annoyances were angry enemies with weapons that are looking for war...." He shook his head. "But anyway, let's go. This should be interesting."

"Everything is taken, I guess I better start looking for transport" squall walks away and starts walking to the market area, passing by the tavern along the way. Soon he finds himself in a small market place with a number of citizens walking about.

"Aye, it's those simple problems I would have to deal with most of the times. But sometimes, I would have to fight an army. Bandit groups here number to the thousands at times, Aoi. People only get to see those tiny groups of marauders instead of a bandit army. Lucky them." Francis sighed wistfully before straightening up, "Alright, from here on out, don't let your judgement be hasty. What you may see unsettle you, but please keep in mind that it's all business."

He said as he led Aoi through the merchant district of Redwood. As they both passed through the numerous shops and stalls found in the district, he couldn't help but feel someone was following them. He brushed the idea from his mind a moment before they reached a small apothecary. They both entered the shop and was greeted by a young woman. She asked whether they needed anything from potions to healing supplies, but he stopped her little sales talk before speaking softly, "I'm here to see the old man, Oswald. I heard from a friend of mine, he was deathly ill and might pass on to the next life. Thus my companion and I wish to pay our due visits before we are unable to converse with him in the land of the living. Also is Mina there as well? She happens to be with the old man as his caretaker, I heard; and I wish to speak with her about a couple of concerns of mine..."

The young lady nodded as she left her spot and proceeded to lock the door and cover the widows with curtains. She even placed a couple of wooden boxes by the door. She told them that the old man might leave for the next life today and Mina, in her grief, left to live in another town to forget the pain brought by the old man's impending death; however she left a couple of items at the old man's place in her hurry, which the old man would bequeath to his children and friends. Francis was slightly disappointed that Mina was no longer here, but at least Oswald's still here and that's already a victory on his part.

The young shop keeper led the duo to the backroom of her apothecary. She pushed a wooden cabinet aside which revealed a hidden door leading underground. "I thank you, young miss, for assisting these fellows in reuniting with an old friend. I also must inform you, milady, that there might be stragglers waiting outside. They might wish to end the old man's life rather than let nature take it's course." The young woman nodded before leaving the two behind. He heard her lock the door and soon silence dominated the room. He looked at Aoi and whispered, "Come on. This wouldn't take long..."

'Bandit armies, eh? Interesting.' As Francis and Aoi went downstairs, he wondered about the secrets going on around here.... The codes they used... What type of business were they doing? What was sold around here? This was very interesting. A thought came across his mind and he wondered if they'd allow him to live after witnessing all this. He'd witnessed secrets that had almost gotten him killed. But yet, he still had them. Secrets that people wanted no one to know to the point of killing, part of his knowledge... When he actually thought about that, how he was still living with those secrets, it gave him an indescribable feeling... Did it feel strange? Interesting? Something along those lines....

Durako had been following the two fellows, Aoi and Francis. There is some strange satisfaction in knowing so much about a person whilst they know not even your name. After following for a while, he noticed them go into a shop, and managed to get behind the building fast enough to hear a rant about Oswald. As he had gathered from earlier, he knew that Oswald wasn't a real person. This particular shop was made of stone, so it was more difficult to hear some of the conversation, but Durako had heard enough.

At the end of it all, he heard something closing, and some muffled steps moving downwards before fading to nothing. The stone really limited what he could hear. Leading downward, though... A basement? Or something else? 'Was it this mysterious Oswald?' he thought. After checking to make sure no one else was in the shop, he picked the lock on the back door. Typical lock. Click. The door rolled open, and luckily had been oiled recently, so there was not a squeak.

After finding there was no obvious staircase, he checked for things that were commonly used to hide hidden rooms. Bookshelves, cabinets... A-ha! He pushed the cabinet aside quietly, checking the door for an alarm before opening it as silently as possible. Durako stared into the void-like darkness, hearing quiet footsteps and chatter from somewhere farther down. He pulled the cabinet back over the door before closing it.

After taking a long and deep breath of the musty air, he used his ability once again. A shadow once more, his vision was a bit better in the dark, and that which he could not see he could hear. Once adjusted to the musty stairwell, he descended, footsteps of shadow mocking the sound of silence. 'This should be interesting...' he thought as he descended the staircase in silence.

It took a few minutes before they reached the end of the tunnel. A metal door barred their path. Francis pounded on the door three times before they heard someone from the other side. "Are you here to see the old man?"

"Yes, my companion and I wish to pay our due respect to the old man. We're one of his closest friends, you see; and it would be considered improper if we wouldn't be able to meet him before he passes on to the next life." Silence soon followed.

Before long, they could hear locks moving and the slow creaking of the opening door. They soon stepped inside and was greeted by the sight of numerous caravans and stalls filled with things that would never see the light of day in the merchant districts above. The pair saw a man standing by the door, "Welcome to Oswald, Francis 'Cernunnos' Blackthorn and companion. It is a pleasure to have you here again. Mina, has left to the next town over but would stop by the wastes to collect a few more specimens; although that shop left a few cages for your perusal. Please, feel free to check our current stocks as well and we of Oswald hope for your continued patronage."

"Thank you, my good man. Also, please be advised that someone might have followed us here to expose Oswald. Be ready for a possible fight. I'll warn the caravan master myself." The man grunts in acceptance before grabbing his blade and walks out metal door. Francis noted the man's eyes glowed an eerie red, must be his powers if he would reckon. The metal door closed behind him with little sound or indication of it moving.

"Ah to be recognized by my fellow merchants and hunters. Come Aoi, let's see what Oswald has to offer for us."

Durako ran swiftly down the stairs and through the tunnel, his feet, light as shadows, making not a sound. He reached the metal door as a man exited from the room behind the barred door into the long, void-like tunnel of rock. As the tunnel was so dark, he managed to slip past the man as he walked through the tunnel. No point in killing someone unnecessarily. Durako only killed on a contract, and he may be a shady character, but he is a man of his word. Durako not only made no noise, but blended with the shadows themselves.

He knew his ability had many a limit, but it was on days like this where it seemed flawless. His shadowy figure flowed like water through the blackness; Before the door shut itself, his dark form slithered through the open entryway, and he slid along the wall, remaining in the darkness. His vision blurred for a moment when the light of the area reached his eyes. Most interesting thing I've seen in a while, he thought.

It was some sort of marketplace, and he could guess why it was hidden. It may have been a glimpse, but he saw cages. Not only that, but there was no doubt that he heard the clinking of chains. I haven't discovered a black market like this since... well, it's been a long time, he thought.

Durako stayed on the edge of the cave-like room, residing in the shadows, and his ears found the duo before his eyes did. He adjusted his hearing on the duo whilst scanning the market with his vision.

Francis and Aoi passed through a lot of stalls that sell a variety of items ranging from illegal potions down to outlawed weaponry and armor. Some of the stalls had cages that contained beasts and even people. Francis, personally didn't mind; but he wasn't sure if Aoi can handle this atmosphere. Before he could think of anything else, the pair reached the center of Oswald. Here, they were greeted with the sight of a beautiful woman with her long red hair tied in an elegant braid, wearing a bikini top, short shorts, and knee high boots. She was ordering men around like there was no tomorrow. Francis could see these men moving boxes and cages to their respective carriages and wagons, looks like they arrived just in time for Oswald's moving day. "Aoi, I suggest you stay put for a while, while I talk with the caravan master...err...mistress." He then walked towards the woman, his strides were full of purpose.

As he approached, the woman turned to his direction. A smile formed on both of their faces, she ran towards him before she jumped him. He quickly caught her and spun her around, laughter soon echoed around the hall. "Francis! It's been so long."

"It has been so long, Valeria. It looks like business is going as usual." He said as he gestured with one hand while he wrapped his other arm around Valeria's waist.

"Indeed, we're moving out today. The damned Mauve Crown took over recently; many of the usual businesses closed down and left, we managed to hide under the old catacombs as soon as the damnable crown made that economic edict. Now business here has grown...stale." Valeria hissed as she leaned in close to Francis.

"I see. So you're leaving today. I heard the Mina has a few cargo for me today?" Valeria nodded before she left his side and approached a few cages and boxes that bore the symbol of a sword piercing a snake through its mouth. Francis couldn't help but nod in appreciation.

"Mina has left you your usual order, along with a few extras. The product is still fresh and unspoiled. I can have the men bring those up top to your caravan. Still using those wolves of yours?" Valeria said as she pats the tarp covered cages. Francis chuckled as he nodded before conveying his appreciation. He saw some of Valeria's men take his items and proceeded towards the numerous tunnels around the hall. They do their jobs well, he'll be seeing those items in his caravan by the time he returns to the surface.

He turned to Valeria after observing the men, "Valeria, there might be someone here that should not be here. Have your men on high alert. They might be working for those that want to end the business." Valeria nodded, her eyes were now cold and her body tense. She quickly barked out orders to her caravan guards to comb the area for their possible spy. She even order the numerous Essence Hunters under her employ to do the same. Francis too, offered his assistance. He called upon his essence and summoned a few packs of Essence Wolves, wolves that looked like decaying dogs due to the lack of essence in their bodies, and a group of essence hunters he collected during his earlier travels.

"Well it's good to see you haven't loss your touch, Cernunnos." Francis couldn't help but chuckle at her little observation. "You are my friend and business partner, Titania. So it would only be natural I shall lend some of my Wild Hunt in defense of our mutual venture."

So his ability works on humans as well, he confirmed. It seemed creepy in some way. What kind of existence was that? Where would one go if they were captured by such an ability? Some sort of limbo? The man is dangerous, no doubt about it. He's likely on bounty boards in at least a couple places.

Even amidst the commotion, Durako was unperturbed. It was unlikely anyone would find him. And if they did, well, he would manage. Ah, so the Mauve Crown caused the business here to go stale, he thought. Not unlikely, considering the rules they'd put in place.

As for the matter of if he was 'caught'... It was unlikely they would catch him. He had tried wearing cuffs once, but they fell of when he turned to a shadow. That was how he escaped the first time he was caught. One second, the guard was leading him to a cell, the next he was gone. Besides that, after five or so years of experience in the business, his skills of stealth had increased greatly. He had only been revealed once, but his face had changed since then; now none know his appearance. All the better, shadows don't have a face.

The market sure was lively, with decaying wolves searching around, people moving crates, cages lifted into wagons, 'merchandise' being shoved around, and any other kind of black-market activity you would expect.

Francis was a bit tense right now. He really couldn't shake the feeling that someone was there, watching them. This was not good at all. "Valeria, what do you see? Has your fairies told you anything?" He saw Valeria. affectionately named Titania, summon her essence which transformed into ethereal butterflies, fireflies, and pixie-like creatures. The soon scattered around the hall, some accompanying the patrolling hounds and men, while others grew brighter to act as light sources. "It appears they haven't seen anything yet. But soon, the spy would be revealed to us; that I guarantee it."

Francis nodded before scanning the now fairly lit room. There is no where to hide now. Unless this one hid in the most least likely of places, which he doubts they could pull it off. But right now, the spy would have little to no area for hiding. Valeria would know where they could hide in no time. After all, only a few people could escape her fairies' sights.

He planned on leaving now, but he suddenly had a thought. If Oswald was leaving and Mina was already gone, their collective knowledge and assets would disappear like mist. Maybe they have something that could help him in that regard. "Valeria, do you, by chance, have anything that could help me remember you all by? I might need it if you plan on laying low for a long time..." It was a gamble, but it would be worth it after all.

Valeria thought for a moment as she watched her fairies do their job. After a few minutes of silence, she walked towards her tent. After a few seconds, she walks back out with a wooden box. She presented to him said box and opened it. Inside was a very thick leather book with an ornate lock and key that resembles a heart. "We only gave 5 of these things to our most loyal and most trusted benefactors and partners. This is an omnibus version of the collective knowledge of Oswald's Silent Bazaar and Mina's Exotic Menagerie." She took the key and opened the book. Inside, he saw a compiled catalog of items that they sell, locations of business, names of both employees and affiliates, names of information brokers and suppliers, a list of active essence hunters, and the signatures of numerous merchant caravan masters and merchant guilds that know of Oswald's and Mina's existence. It was, in essence, a holy book for the hardcore merchant.

She closed the book and locked it again. She took out a platinum chain and secured the key to the chain before placing the chain around his neck. She tucked the key inside his shirt before closing the wooden box. "Something to remember us by. If you want to visit us again, just refer to the book on where we might be. It was a pleasure doing business with you Cernunnos." She turned to the side, seeing her men that brought Francis' order up top return. "Looks like you're order has reached it's destination. Oh, as for payment...we're not going to accept for now; since, you know, it's a clearance sale right now."

Francis graciously accepted Valeria's gift, both the book and the freebies, "It was a pleasure as well, Titania." He said as he looked at Aoi who was strangely enough, silent the entire time. He approached Aoi and gently nudged him towards the tunnel where the men exited. "Come on Aoi, let's get out of here. Business has concluded and it's time to cut our loses."

Durako flinched as the light reached his eyes. The room was becoming brighter thanks to those damned fairies. It seemed quite obvious they knew he was here, so he decided he had a few options: Sneak out of the room, which would be fairly easy, even in the light, hide in a caravan, or reveal himself. After thinking for a while, sitting in a more shaded part of the room, he decided that the folk had interested him enough to reveal himself. Couldn't hurt gaining black market connections, anyway. And he wouldn't want them learning of his ability.

He'd just have to watch out for that fellow's ability. He didn't quite know how it worked, yet, but surely he would find out someday if he made a connection out of him now.

And so he returned to normal, the shadowy tendrils of his form relapsing into himself, yet his color not much changing. He smiled, not the smile of a madman, nor the smile of a normal folk... but more the smile of someone who had seen many things. Black things. Bloody things. Cruel things.

He moved away from the darkness, raising his voice to speak before he was seen, " I have to say, this market is impressive. It's really a shame the Mauve Crown had to take control of little ol' Redwood Town. I haven't seen a black market like this in a couple years, at least. Although I've seen places where you wouldn't even need to hide a market like this. Far away places. Say, why so tense, folks? Oh, and before you ask, I'm not working for anyone. Heard that question too many times by now. I work for my own benefit, sometimes other's benefits get mixed up in that, but not right now". his voice echoed in the cave. "I gotta say, you have some nice security around here. You really ought to be more careful with your information though. The whole Oswald thing? Gets pretty obvious when you hear it over and over."
