Francis heard this strange man's voice echo around the cavern. So this was the one that followed them around for a long time. Pretty bold or foolish, this man was. He and Aoi hid by the tunnels, even if he was a bit far away, he could still hear the echos of the upcoming discussion around them.

Valeria wasn't surprised to see someone else here. A man clad in black that almost blended with the shadows around him. Such a peculiar and annoying man. "If no one knows about Oswald, then how do we remain in business, stranger? If no one can find Oswald, then it would live down in their memory as a myth. To those that find it, it would only be one of a thousand shops located around the world. So the repetitiveness of it all is a requirement." She snaps her fingers and soon the man was surrounded by both men and beast. Valeria's fairies surrounded them like a torrent of colors and lights. "And also, tense? Well, we're all annoyed that someone else is here, eavesdropping and spying on us of all things. Don't think of escaping or fighting back now; run, and the hunters here would find you, kill you, take your essence and present it to our clients for bidding; fight, and my fairies can send us all to hell in a flash. Now, tell us, who are you? Oh, don't lie to us as well, when you tell us your name, and cross-reference it with the bounty files, then we'll see what happens from there. Maybe we'll let you go. Maybe we'll kill you anyway. Maybe we'll do something else. It could go either way." She gave him a sweet friendly smile at the end.

Victoria sneaked up to the door of the building that the travelers had gone in and not come out yet. She summoned all of her might to sense for essence... And she could feel great masses of it... underground. There was an incredibly low chance of essence naturally cumulating underground like that. So the Black market that Father hate so much is underneath this building right now. She smirked. the scoundrels couldn't hide from the Mauve Crown forever.

Victoria ran away from the shop and to the manor that she had called home since the Mauve Crown took over the area. She ran into Father's study, in which he was hosting a business meeting, excited about her accomplishments. "Father! I have found the black mar-" she was interrupted, "Victoria, what are you wearing? You look disgraceful!" "Father, I found a trader and he went to-" "What, did you follow a trader and spy on him?" "Yes, and I found the unlawful market that has been troubli-" "Victoria, you are covered in dirt, you did an awfully unlady-like way of getting information, are wearing the clothes of a boy, clearly ran over here from town, and-" She cut him off, Father, why won't you listen, I found the black market!

He grew red with rage, "How dare you interrupt your father! I don't care what disgraceful thing you have done on the family name, go to your quarters and clean yourself up! Then never speak of this again, you might not have been seen."

Victoria did as she was told. Sadly, since the "oswald" moves, she probably wasted her one chance to bust them. Father simply wants whats best for the crown and our family, I guess. But... I wish that my message had gotten through to him... [/quote

Nera was very tired when she walked into town. " I wonder where the nearest inn is." She walked up to Francis and asked,"Excuse me Francis, do you know if there would be a hotel with a stable near by?" Fotia was staggering at this point. When Fotia realized she wouldn't be resting for a while, she simply laid on her side. "Umm, Francis? Help?!"

Francis and Aoi traversed through the tunnels. Upon reaching the end they were greeted with the sight of an alleyway. The walked towards the end and they were both back at the town plaza. He wasn't worried about the spy divulging anything of value. The members of his hunt were there to assist Valeria's men; even if they die, they shall return to him as wisps of essence floating through the air. Most of all, Valeria would take care of everything. Besides, her honor as a merchant demands it.

The pair approached the caravan and saw the covered cages and boxes were inside the wagon already. Francis sighed with relief, his merchandise is safe. Before he could inspect the content, he heard New, the pretty miss, walk up to him. He wondered how long was she there and by the looks of her and her horse, they were just there moments ago. He was about to answer her question when he saw her horse lay down on its side. He quickly approached the horse, checking for any injuries and such. Seeing none, he concluded the poor thing might be tired before he turned to Nera, "I think your friend is a bit tired from the journey. I may have something for your friend at my wagon."

He said as he stood up and walked towards the back of his caravan. He rummaged through his portable apothecary and found a small bottle filled with a clear liquid substance. He returned to Nera's side and gave her the bottle. "Have your animal friend drink this. It's a relief potion designed for animals. It would give your friend a little boost of energy and soothe its aching body."

He laughed in amusement.

"Fair enough. If that is how you operate, I won't question it. My name? They call me Stolen Shade. And that is the only thing you will know about me. If hell were to exist, I'd be there already." He was sure that name was likely in the bounty files somewhere, under a high price. Then again, though, he had done some 'dirty work' with traders quite a few times. Durako was lucky to be in such a isolated place; Few people knew of him here and thus he could get into more interesting situations.

"Essence hunters? Find me? Take my essence?" He smiled a broad, menacing smile. "Like I haven't heard that one before. Last one who tried that on me... I think his name was Charles. Sounds like a kid's name to me. Anyhow, he's no longer with us. I think I retrieved a bounty that was placed on his head after I, well, ended him."

He started to notice the wolves that fellow, Francis, had summoned flickering and threatening to disappear. 'So they can either only remain a certain distance from him or they have a time limit.'

Now, now, I don't want to hurt anyone here, but I'm sure you're just dying to take a slash at me. It didn't take long for him to think. He was surrounded. In a swift movement, he pulled something out of a satchel on his side, and threw it at the ground. There was a small explosion, and then a thick black dust settled throughout the room, disabling sight. The room also grew cold - a special powder designed to suck up essence, he'd bought it from a most well-known alchemist. It all happened in an instant, and he quickly turned to a shadow again, running through the blinded crowd, and jumped at the metal door, hoping for the best.

He released a breath. The metal door was thin enough. He passed through it like water, and kept on running, turning back to normal.

Nera looked at Francis gratefully."Thank you so much, sir, without this I probably would have had to drag Fotia to an nearby hotel. She's very... let's just say stubborn." When she gave the potion to Fotia, she immediately stood and started racing around. "Oh come on, Fotia wait up!" Nera said, giggling as she pictured the craziness. "I think I'm going to like this journey," she thought, as she finally caught up to Fotia and stopped her. "I guess I should head off to the inn." When Nera and Fotia reached the entrance to an inn, Nera led Fotia to the stables, behind the building. "Good night, my darling." she quietly muttered. She walked into the inn. She went up to the front desk. "May I have a room, please?" The person silently handed her a key. It read,"Room 2B" When she entered the hallway, she immediately saw her door. She entered her room and fell on to her bed. She fell asleep after a few moments.

Aoi sat in the caravan thinking about all that had just happened. He didn't know exactly what had just went on, but it was quite interesting. "Hey, Francis, think I could go with you on another one of those trips sometimes?" he asked. He then decided to get some food since the sun was already setting then go to sleep. He helped himself to some, laid down in one of the hammocks, and began to eat. He looked at the sun dipping on the horizon. 'Time really passed quickly today....' he thought.

Francis, seeing Nera's companion moving with a spring on each step, smiled jovially. He bids Nera good night as the pair disappeared along the corner, probably going towards one of the inns located in the town. He slowly turned around, dusting himself off and walked towards his caravan. As he approached his caravan, he staggered and lost his balance; his body falling towards the ground. He felt the essence of his summons return to him, rather violently at that. Something was wrong and that puts him on edge. He struggled to stand but soon rights himself. He dusted himself again and walks inside the carriage.

He spotted Aoi inside, already eating dinner. When Aoi asked his question, he wondered if it was the right thing to do. Personally he had fun. The young man was a joy to have around. But his morals contradict this because he's exposing him to a world far more dirtier than his own. After few minutes of mental debates, he made his decision, "If you wish to accompany me, then you are free to do so. I found your company pleasing now that I think about it." He then walked towards a small divider and quickly discarded his clothes. A minute later he walked out wearing only a pair of silk pants, the rest of his body exposed to the cool air of the night. He later joins Aoi in dinner; his mind still in turmoil about the prior events and their possible headaches.

---Meanwhile---

Valeria was furious. The notorious Stolen Shade escaped from their clutches. The bomb he used was effective in dispelling Francis' Wild Hunt and her fairies. She stopped her men from hunting him down. That was not the priority at the moment. Oswald has to leave and lay low for now; but when the dust settles, she'll send her best to hunt the fool down.

She called for a few of her men and relayed her orders. One was to go to Francis and inform him of the situation, while the rest would send out falcons and inform the others of the impending issue. After agreeing with the orders, her men did as they were told.

Valeria sighed as she sat on the driver's seat of her caravan. Stolen Shade...no, that's not his name; it's only an alias like her being called Titania and Francis as Cernunnos. She'll have to research on this man. Maybe her contacts on the bounty stations would know a thing or two. But for now, it's time for Oswald to disappear like a dream. "You just made an enemy today, Stolen Shade; and that is your greatest mistake." her voice dripped with so much venom that it made most of the men around her shiver in horror.

"Well, glad I'm enjoyable." Aoi said, finishing his food then closing his eyes. "So, what're we doing tomorrow?" He noticed that Francis had gotten undressed to go to bed, but Aoi didn't do so simply because he'd rather not expose his scars. "Will we be moving on from here? If so, where to next?"

"We'll be travelling to the Central City, the economic hub of the region. I have to see few things to check up there. It'll be a weeks journey from here, so we'll be seeing the wastes for a long time." Francis said as he finished his meal and laid down on the hammock. It would be a long day tomorrow. Maybe he could ask Nera to join them too. If she would want to join them on an adventure.

"Alright then. I'm sure we have the necessary supplies to go for a week across the wastelands, right?" Aoi had no doubt that Francis was prepared, but he just wanted to make sure. If they ran out of anything out there... He knew it would be dangerous. "We should also prepare for anything that could make the journey any longer, just in case." As they say, better safe than sorry. Especially in situations and places like this.

Perhaps he was brazen, bold, or a fool. Perhaps? Surely. But he already had his fair share of enemies. Durako knew with a criminal's intuition that they would send people after him. There'd been worse people sent after him. He'd had worse enemies. It was better to have a thousand enemies than a single traitor, though. At least you know your enemies are enemies.

In truth, it was rather funny to him. To have someone so worked up over their discovery. He laughed, quietly. "They're like children afraid of the dark," he thought. It's not as if he knew where they were moving next, anyhow.

Either way, this information might be valuable later. Worth the price of making a few powerful enemies. The town was quieter now, as night approached. It was easy to hear the footsteps of people running through the town. Besides that - the faint flapping of wings. Likely messenger pigeons or hawks.

Looks like he'd spread his reputation into the black market here, as well. One more place in which the shadowy hands of the dark gripped and crawled their way into the legends. It mattered not - although people were afraid of him now, at one point he would be forgotten. Smitten away by the flow of time.

'Where to go next?' He had wandered through the wastelands himself, and remained in this town for a short while. Next... perhaps the lake town of Ferylin? It was small and off some maps. On the way to the Central City, as well. He was well known there, surely he would find something else interesting within that city's towering walls. It was a sidetrack way, but the town was beautiful.

After wandering for a while, he realized that while he was thinking, he ended up near the carriage that fellow was in. This happened sometimes. He'd space out - wander about. If he wasn't careful, one of these times he might be killed.

...Unlikely. He would probably come to his senses if anything were to happen.

And it happened again. He was thinking about how he would space out all the time, and he wound up walking closer to the caravan. "How comedic," he muttered under his breath, before turning to head out of town, perhaps sleep next to that tree and pond he had seen earlier, next to the town - fall asleep under the light of the stars. Fall into dream in the soft spring breeze.

He drowsily trudged away from the caravan.

When Aoi looked out, he saw a strange, shadowy man walk toward but then away from the caravan. "I'll be right back, Francis." He hopped out then walked up to the strange man. He never bothered to sneak up; he had always just been straightforward about things and he always would be probably (unless he specifically had to sneak around, of course). He tapped him on the shoulder. "Hey, mind telling me who you are? You snuck around the caravan, after all."

Nera woke up with a start. She had been dreaming again. She had been dreaming one particular dream for he time being. It was about her family back home. She would enter her house, and she would find her father and siblings sitting in chairs, their backs to her. When she would face them, she would see that their faces were blank, with no details. Just skin. Then she would wake up crying. This had been happening ever since she left her family. Tonight was no different. As tears flew down her face and she was choking with the effort of breathing, she thought, "Why do I have to go through this!?". She suddenly got an idea. She changed into her swimming gown, some antique she had found in in a small trading island. She ran out of her room, quickly grabbing her room key as she left.

When she went out to the stables, she found that Fotia was awake as well. "Well, I guess I won't be walking." she whispered as she fondly kissed Fotia soft nose. She had asked around, and discovered a body of water near the town. She raced to it, excited to train. As she ran on the road, she slowly stopped crying, and when she finally reached the body of water, she had completely forgotten about the dream. She leaped off Fotia, itching to swim after riding for several days. However, Fotia hadn't understood the warning Nera gave her, so Nera ended up flying off Fotia and landing with a dull thud on the rocky beach. "Oww..." she mumbled, mentally checking herself for injuries. "Nice going, Fotia! You're losing it!" she teasing said as Fotia guiltily looked at her hooves. When she recovered, she dove into the water, grateful to feel the water smoothly gliding past her. When she surfaced, she saw Fotia looking doubtfully at the water. "Oh come on, baby! It's not that cold!" Nera shouted, not caring, for the first time in a while, who could hear her. She spent many hours like this, swimming and splashing with her best friend of many years. After a while, she exited the water. She was so tired, however, that she was barely able to ride back to the hotel, dry off Fotia and say goodnight, dry of herself, change, and go to bed. By the time her head hit the pillow, she was already dreaming.
