I don't usually watch anime week to week -- two or three shows a season at most.
I tend to watch older anime, then binge-watch the best of the newest cour when it wraps up.
And it's that time again.

I'm not even sure where to start. The genre isn't important; I just don't know what's worth watching.
Of course, I'm not expecting something for nothing.

I have seen Monster Musume, School Live, and Charlotte, and I would recommend them all. The latter two end decently enough without any urgent need to read the manga or wait for a second season. MonMusu leaves you hanging, but by the end, there are only a dozen or so manga chapters to go before you'd be all caught up, so it's not too bad.

Anyway, what did you really like this season?

Rokka was really good, but the ending trolls so hard...

GATE was really good as well, but they just leave you hanging with a "wait until January for the rest of the series" at the end.

I loved Actually I Am which was a good rom-comedy that helped counter-balance a very dark and depressing summer season.

Non Non Biyori Repeat. If you've not seen the first season, well, you should start with that, altho they aren't exactly dependent upon one another.

Working 3/Wagnaria 3, altho technically it's not completely finished as there is an as-yet-unscheduled 1-hour blow-out episode yet to come.

I think my Top shows this season were
Overlord
Actually I Am
MonMusume
Symphogear

(With Ushio and Tora plus My Love Story carrying over from last season)

You should really check out Symphogear. Crunchy managed to get all three seasons, it has lots of good music and plenty of over the top Super-hero action. Sure Hibiki is one of THOSE heroes who can pull a win out of thin air but she's a real lovable one andit's great seeing her in action.

and how often you get to see someone punch a mountain out of the way of a crashing space shuttle.

(I haven't gotten around to Gatchaman or GATE yet. kind of set them aside to binge at a later date)

Summer was a great season for continuations. I quite enjoyed Durarara!!, Working!!, Gatchaman CROWDS, Non Non Biyori, and Ore Monogatari, but those all have previous seasons to trek through (especially Working!! and Durarara!!) and I understand that can be a little daunting. My favorite newly-airing one was probably School-Live; I was quite impressed by it.

All in all, Durarara!!, School-Live and Gatchaman are probably the ones I'd recommend most.

Does 'Actually, I Am' end in any way, or is it one of those Nisekoi rom-coms with 100+ chapters left of manga content?

Not really, but it's a good show and things actually happen unlike Nisekoi.

My favorites from summer were Prison School, Rokka, and Himouto! Umaru-chan. Jitsu wa is up there too.

I'd recommend To Love Ru Darkness 2nd, but only if you're caught up on the previous seasons of course. It's one of my favorite harems of all time and it actually has some sort of plot progression.

I love the Symphogear series, so I'd recommend that, but of non-sequels both Rokka no Yuusha and Akagami no Shirayuki were both great shows. First is an action fantasy mystery (EMPHASIS ON MYSTERY), and he other is a very peaceful shoujo with a female lead that can certainly handle herself and works hard while being endearingly adorable.

Minus those two, my sleeper hit of the season was Joukamachi no Dandelion. It's just.. refreshing. Show about a royal family with magical abilities all trying to win over the people of their town to win the election and become king. It's very heartwarming with family and friend relations but also has some funny moments.

Started watching Symphogear (just finished Episode 2). It's kind of...strange, lol, but I like magical girl series, and singing to power your suit makes at least as much sense as the "more skin = more strength" rule of Kill la Kill. Tech-based magical girls are always cool, but I'll probably need to find a decent rom-com or slice of life to temper it with. Maybe Actually I Am? I'll check out the pilot for that one, anyway.

I watched the first episode of Durarara as well, and I'm pretty curious about Umaru-chan -- just because I've seen it everywhere, and have no idea why a show that looks like that is so popular, but there must be good reasons, right?

I'm surprised that only one person mentioned Prison School.
That one, Food Wars, and Monster Musume are my top 3.
